I agree. I myself prefer the design of the M3 and M4. Not feeling the front end. But I'm sure the car will be a beast.

I think the M2 might be disappointing to some of us ///M fiends. But I suspect we will all be relieved when the more aggressive rendition gets revealed. That is the one I am waiting for personally. I am not waiting for a bargain //M, but a lightweight and super-focused car.

It may (or may not at this point) be wishful thinking, but a lot of us have hopes and dreams pinned on an M2 CSL.
The painful part is that it's so damn early in the game.

As good as these renderings are, I expect the final product to look much better. As least that what happened (at least for me) for the F8X M3/M4, especially with the front end.

That blue is the best looking render yet. Wow!
I wonder if they are releasing a sorta plain M2 with 365HP so they can release the CSL version with 400HP a CF roof, Ceramic Brakes, with an S55 engine, hood bulge and lighter weight. Oh snap!!!' I'm so sorry guys...Sometimes my imagination gets the best of me.

The diffuser needs to be painted gray- but my wife just got a white M235 and I can tell you that this will be so bad ass that it will be, in its price range, considered one the best drivers car ever made. And will be better than many others twice its price.
Small thing but I wish it had lane departure signals- all cars need them and this one at 65k should. But on any road this thing will be like no other. |

this car really makes me wish i would have waited on pulling the trigger on getting the M4. I love how much smaller it is. the M4 is a boat compared to this thing.

Anyway I do think the M2 is going to rock, but you shouldn't feel bad about jumping on the M4. Remains to be seen if the M2 is a held back M4-lite or another proposition altogether. |

I am trying to understand the concept of CSL cars, I have driven the E46 M3 and the E46 M3 CSL, its two very different cars with a very different price tag also when they were new, I remember the E46 M3 being great on the track and also on the road dealing with the bumps and unsmoothness great.
While the CSL version was awesome on the track performance was great but on the road? Good god it was a nightmare, It was terrible at absorbing bumps and was not comfortable at all on long distance trips. And well lets not talk about the MPG either, But then again no one ever talks MPG when buying a ///M car so we can skip that part. Mostly what i am saying is the M2 will be a great Performance Vehicle and will serve great as a daily driver, We haven't seen the production vehicle fully unmasked yet so i cant say so much about CR Roof and such. I think the M2 will serve the purpose of an true ///M car and will eat the track for breakfast and deal with the worthless roads (depending on where you live) greatly but an CSL Version of the M2 what will that car serve for point? Because it won't suit it self as a Daily driver unless you like being thrown around inside the car and hit everything with your head so it hurts like crazy. Track wise its gonna be great but i can't say its price its gonna justify the car for great track use. Even if they would add CF Roof on CSL and change the looks more or add that dreaded spoiler from GTS concept. IF the M2 starts at €55k the CSL will probably start at €60K or more. For that money you can get so much better track day cars, Such as Ariel Atom, Nissan GTR (Not new but a bargain one) or some other car in the price range. So unless you are a BMW only person then the CSL serves very little purpose in my mind. But then again everyone likes different cars, I just can't see the CSL being justified in the line up anywhere for the usage of the car. Last edited by Nahlem; 08-25-2015 at 02:17 AM.. |

I don't agree with the comments re: M3 CSL. I am on my 2nd E46 CSL now and use it often as a daily driver for chores and also for the school run in heavy London traffic. Given the supposed bias for track work, I find it relatively easy to use for the road.
In terms of MPG vs. std E46 M3, negligible difference. |
