No, it was an answer on a direct question about the price of the TTS compared to the M2. Nothing to do with target/competition.

This is why I think availability will be acceptable after the initial hype, as most drivers will jump to the bigger brothers. That's fine with me. I think people, like myself, who truly want a well balanced and nimble street car will get it.
And as I would be opting for manual, my only options would be metallic color, H&K, and most likely adaptive lighting. That puts be right around $55K which is reasonable.

Wow thats a bargain. Even with this non so pleasant render I'd go for it.

I dumped 5k for wheels on my car and 6500 on dinan upgrades. didn't touch the lsd yet or suspension. Just out of curiosity where are you coming up with your numbers?

The front aero is completely incorrect on that car. That's a really old render.

Keep in mind that the upgrades to the suspension on the M2 won't just be different shocks and spring rates. BMW's M-cars have completely different suspension components, and geometry.

This really only matters in the case of someone who is contemplating buying an M235i and trying to upgrade it to the level of an M2. There's no way to recover the $6,500 on Dinan upgrades, so you're kind of committed in your position. That's not to say a suspension upgrade can't get you close to M2 territory if you prefer the looks to the M2.

Im not trying to get to m2 territory I'm just enjoying my car

Most of the stuff on my car i can resell for a % back so if the M2 comes out and it makes sense for me to stop modding (which i enjoy) I'll buy the package. I did this when I upgraded to my Z06.

It doesn't work that way. US prices aren't straight exchange-rate conversions of euro prices. Cars in the US are usually effectively cheaper (due to tariffs, market pricing, etc.).

That's if you do a direct conversion, which is not how it works. This has already been discussed.

In the US, 54 Euro correlates to about 50/51 k in the US.

The 1M was about 52 Euro in Geany and 49k USD in the U.S.

The US price on any car is never a direct currency conversion from the euro.

So quick question... why are we not seeing the widebody in the renders? In this picture the front somewhat matches this render and the widebody in the rear is pretty obvious.

I said it earlier, I agree that these renders are missing the width and defined stance of the rear fenders. Although this red car is missing the production side skirts the width is accurate. Look at this:

You can really see here how powerful the rear flares of the M2 are, and how they flow into the side skirts in an aggressive way

Yes agreed and Ive watched the videos a bit more. It would be nice for the next person that spots this car to take a pic of the rear and front tire sizes. That would give an idea of how far the widebody goes.

Car looks amazing in the videos.

If it is the exact same wheels as the M4 it is 9" fronts and 10" rears and looking at the stretch that would mean 245/35 fronts and 265/35 rears.

I agree that they look like 245/265. I wonder why they would do that when the M4 comes with 255/275?

I like everything about this car except the engine. Single-turbo N55 open deck is just lame, especially given the fact that the new closed deck B58 is already in production. The N55 has a poor tuneability history and it never rose to the N54 status, nevermind true M engines.

The car in the photo you're looking at is an early production mule that used the M235i Racing rear fenders.

Renders are hard to get right. Also, the appearance of width is not necessarily the same thing as actual width. Have a look at the M3 vs the M4. To my eye, the M3 looks wider because of the way the flares were tapered in to the car. The camouflage hides the details, and the details are where you get the perception of width.

So basically, it's a matter of waiting for the production car before we can really judge.

I think the 235 with the BMW Racing widebody looks much better. I thought the car was going to resemble that look rather than this.

Just my opinion dont crucify me.
I'm actually starting to think this myself (quite disappointingly I will admit) On the fence based on the price. May end up in a 1M or M3 e92 after all
