Permanently turn off Rev Match via coding
It's been previously mentioned in the long BimmerCode thread, but I just did this and confirmed it. If you set "Start engine without clutch" to "Not active" then Rev Matching is turned off.
You can find this under "Front Electronic Module" -> "Start engine without clutch" -> "Not active" In addition to turning Rev Match off, the car now requires two pushes of the start button for the ignition to fire. The first push turns on the accessory mode. The second starts the engine. I also noticed that instead of being able to just lightly press the Start button to turn on the engine, it requires a slightly longer, more determined push. I'm not sure if there are other effects. Personally, I like Rev Match, so I went back to the "Active" setting. |

I think that the stall prevention feature when you're starting in first may also be gone. But any 6MT diehards don't need that either! I look forward to hearing about your experience. |

UPDATE! IT WORKS!!! YESSSSSSSSSS. FINALLY a solution to turning off rev match.
So here's how it works to start the car for me (I tried many variations and this is the only way it'll start): 1-Press the Start Button Once for accessory mode 2-Press in the clutch (yes you still have to clutch in) 3-Press and hold the start button and BOOM car STARTS! It's kinda weird now, some may or may not like this part but I don't mind since I usually always press the start button once before I start (so I guess the only new thing for me is holding the start button, which is oddly kinda cool? haha) Back up camera and reverse lights STILL work!!! It removes the "anti stall" feature so the car doesn't automatically give gas anymore when you're letting off the clutch (say in first gear), it's just like a NORMAL manual car lol, you gotta give gas. So just driving from a stop light it feels much different, since you're used to the car giving some gas it no longer does that so I guess I gotta "relearn" haha. The hill start assist kinda works still? I didn't test it really, one time the car immediately rolled back like a regular manual car and another it held (but not as long). I'll update when I drive again, I'll test it on a hill. The hill assist is a cool feature but I don't really want it (turned it off on my WRX), I'm hoping it's off haha. Anyways, pretty cool! I'm glad there's a solution to turning off rev match. Now I just need to practice my heel and toe again, it's been a few months haha! Thanks to whoever discovered this! |

What amazes me is why BMW didn't mention this in the owner's manual... or tell us after reading all the complaints about rev matching. It seems to me that they would do well to get their act together and respond a little better to their customers. They could employ one person whose job is to read the specialised forums, such as ours, and pick up valuable information regarding complaints and fails, and to provide answers. It would hardly break the bank after all.

Rev match should just be an included feature that you can toggle in iDrive. Having driven manual cars all my life, I like Rev match 90% of the time since this is my dd. no one wants to heel toe when going to the supermarket. haha - do you?

Corinne BMW made the car the way they wanted to the first time... I certainly don't agree with it .. they could have made auto rev match a user toggle just like start stop .. they just didn't want to. Coding Is the way to get around what the manufacturer set the car up as. And actually ..all coding is doing , is setting up the car differently from its OE. presets. The fact that variations in settings are able to be switched via coding is already a gift |

Maybe, just maybe, The developer of BimmerCode could add this as a toggle to BimmerLink.
I'd like to have the ability to enable and disable the function, and BimmerLink already has this kind of on the fly toggle for ASD. The other thing I wish existed was an Android version of BimmerLink!

Sweet. Looks like I might have to get this dongle and app after I finish running in the car.
This plus the LED tail lights and ASD off might make it worth the purchase. |
