Now for the wait...

So I've posted a few things here and there as I was looking to get an allocation and as of today I now have a production number and a production date!

Since my allocation was taking a while my SA was able to do some horse trading with a dealer that had some allocations already that were just about to go into 112 status and change it to my build. I'm so excited that I'm able to track it and everything has become 'real.' Very excited and now it's just a waiting game. Looking forward to sharing some pics once it gets delivered andI pick it up.

So what were your specs, and when do you get the car?

So exciting!

YOU TOOK MY ALLOCATION!!!

Heh. Still waiting on allocation, but your build is *exactly* what I have an order in on (except for the black wheels)!

Congrats!

Oof, I hope that wasn't the case and nice build specs.

I wish you luck. Maybe your SA can do what mine did. Sounds like there are some that have orders in 111 around that might be up for grabs. How long have you been waiting?

Oh I just mean the standard carbon fiber trim vs the black gloss. Nothing beyond what was available on the standard build. Anyone have any recommendations for my first mod to the car?

Congrats! I haven't seen that color in person yet but pics look awesome.

As to first mod, definitely PPF, followed by ASD delete harness, CDV delete, and exhaust paint.

Placed deposit Dec 28.

Talked to SA yesterday about Allocation. He said that there's nothing yet and that their latest allocation had gone into production by the time my order was placed. He also said that he's been trying to get a build slot from other dealers in the past week, but with no success.

I'm not sure what a 111 or 112 means, so maybe you could expand? I don't think he's slow-rolling me as what's the point? I did put down a $5k deposit, but they're not making any more money until I get the car.

Not sure that there's anything I can do except wait.

And then wait some more.

I *was* planning on a late March delivery when I placed the order, but the SA now says that March is unlikely, and that it will probably be some time in April.

The problem for me with April is that my wife and I will be out in the Western Pacific diving the Japanese Ghost Fleet in Truck Lagoon for most of the month, so I won't be here to accept delivery.

Grr.

On the plus side, I have a bunch of parts for the car already sitting in the guest room.

Definitely doing PPF. There's a guy in town that I know has done Ferrari cars and other high end stuff that will pick it up from the dealer in an enclosed trailer, do the job, and then drop it off at my house.

On a separate note, the car has a 2nd Week of February production date, but not getting it delivered until end of March I was told. Does that seem normal? This wait is going to drive me crazy...

I see many on here who are awaiting allocations from dealers, or are ordering. I've seen many dealers in major metros who have a lot of M2 inventory and are making deals too. Are you guys not willing to drive a bit to get your cars?

Just wondering

I know my guy had a BMW rep that was visiting this week and they worked through some of it. Sounds like you SA just has to be persistent and keep bugging people.

What kind of parts do you have for yours already?

I ordered because I want to do Performance Center Delivery and I have time to wait for it. If I was good with something a dealer had on the lot, I definitely would have traveled for the right car/deal.

I wanted a specific color/build and the there were only two available locally.

One was overpriced at a "one price" dealer (as in about $4000 over what I ordered mine for for the exact same car).

The other had a raft of "PIO" and dealer-installed options that I didn't want.

So, no choice but to order.

There was/is a BMW dealer in Columbia, Missouri who had (and likely still has) a 2020 SOM with executive package, MT, and I think black wheels (maybe not) that I checked out even though it was a drive. They were willing to go down like $5000 below MSRP and also to ship it free to me. Check it out on CarGurus if you want. The problem I had with it is it's been sitting there at the dealer for over 200 days (hence the willingness to negotiate) and also has like 350 miles on it. I have no idea what's been done in those 300 miles (joy rides, etc). I was not in a hurry and got my local folks to meet that pricing for ordering one brand new, so it was an easy decision for me.

Lots of good stuff there. On the Automotive Passion arch guards, were you able to get someone from the US office to work with you? I emailed that group and got no response.

Yes, I chatted with him via email-- the ones he had weren't up to standards, so he said he'd get back to me in a week or two.

His email is: esteban.valentin@gmail.com

Well, if you're looking for a few more ideas, here's the "post-1200 mile list", plus a few things that I won't get serious about until the car is only a few weeks out:

Michelin Pilot Sport 4S 255/35/19 & 275/35/19 tires
Superbright rear backup lights
Dynamat Extreme on bottom of trunk
Charcoal air filter delete
Protective Paint film, paint correction & ceramic coating
Paint exhaust canister w/ VHT
Treat inside of rotor hubs w/ Permatex Rust Treatment
Bimmercode/Carly coding software
AutoSolutions SSK w/ weighted shift knob
Ultimate clutch pedal
BavSound amp for M2C (est. release Oct 2020)
BavSound Ghost under-seat sub upgrade kit
BavSound speaker upgrade kit
Crank bolt capture (post-warranty)
Dinan HE+ software
Dinan heat exchanger

I figure that's just about as far as I'm willing to go.
