DIY for removing the DME
Anyone know of a DIY on removing the DME?
Backstory: I’m pretty confident that I have one of the last OG M2’s made, I missed out on the LCI update by about a month and lucky me, I have to remove the DME to have it unlocked. I’ve read all 17 pages and 374 posts on the Bootmod3 for BMW F series Vehicles - General Discussion https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1330744. Around page 7/post 150, PTF starts talking about unlocking through the OBD port and in the first 7 pages, there is lots of talk about pulling the DME but not a single ‘how to/DIY’. I did find one for an F30...is it the same?

Don't know what to tell ya, I'm getting this info direct from PTF. If you look on the BM3 Page which lists the M2 in the 'title' https://www.protuningfreaks.com/coll...5i-x3-x4-x5-m2, there is a list of cars that are supported by that particular version of their software and the M2 is NOT listed (screen shot below), so I sent them an e-mail to confirm it would work with my car and they asked me to log into Bootmod3.net, run the agent and send them a pic of the vehicle software as identified by the agent. I had some Enet cable issues but I eventually sent them pic (see below) and they responded that "You would have to remove the DME and send it to us so we can unlock it" Considering I've not yet bought the software so I'm not actually a customer, PTF have been super responsive and helpful.

As I'm a novice that this, I'm pretty hesitant to tell the guys at PTF that they're wrong...

The only M2 model that can't be flashed are the later model M2 Competitions. |

The N55 doesn't have a locked DME that BM3 can't unlock. |

Just a follow up to this thread. Dec540 posted this video on the Bmw F series N55 HPFP upgrades thread.
It’s a 17:44 minutes video showing the install of a Dorch Stage 2 HPFP however, the first 9 minutes pretty much show the removal of the DME…what a pain in the ass!
