Are the M carbon ceramic brakes the same brakes available as an option on other M models?

Ok that's not true at all lmao it's about the speed of the transmission

MT can handle more power than the DCT without "slipping"

False.

BMW has done a great job of marketing this BS to the masses. The MT is not incapable of handling the power...

I mean the F10 M5 came with a stick all the way up to 600 HP and more torque than they'll ever throw at the M2/3/4...

Same with their "reasons" of abandoning DCTs for slush boxes. Gee, I wonder how Porsche or AMG are able to use DCTs in their high HP/TQ applications. Must be magic

It's all bullshit and lies to try and justifying the bean counters' decisions.

"Honestly, you have a problem with manuals," he told me. "Because we have these turbocharged engines with 600 N-m [roughly 443 lb-ft] of torque, to develop such a high-torque manual transmission for such a small volume isn't profitable at all. So I tried to prolong the lifetime of the manuals, but we can't invest in developing a new manual transmission. No transmission partner will do that with us. So we are evolving our existing manuals as long as possible."

Can't find the article from a while back, but they mentioned the current MT wasn't strong enough for the M3/4 CS and why it wasn't offered.

Same here..if they can trim that much weight and the car still be DD capable.

If they don’t cut down the beef, then I’m happy with sticking a hood on my M2 Comp, flashing a tune, and calling it a day.

If the last model 6-speed F10 M5 could of handle 560hp/500tq, no reason they couldn't create an M2 CS with a proper manual.

It comes down to economics and demand.. As suspected, I guess they didn't find it worthwhile to crash & emission test two separate transmissions for a low production vehicle.

BMW,

Manual please. Also, if this is a CSL, manuals are lighter.

I go to the track to have fun, not to put down lap times. Don't try to win over ZR1 owners with this car by making it lap time focused and not fun.

Keep the back seats. Just like the 3.0 CSL, the e36 M3 LTW, the e46 M3 CSL, they all had lighter back seats making them usable every day and tons of fun.

Bring back the special graphic that symbolizes the car, like stripe on the 3.0 CSL and the Bavarian "checkered" flag on the e36 M3 LTW. Make it only an option to remove it, not an option to add it.

Keep the full on iDrive system, it's worth the extra 1 lb.

Go crazy with the styling, box fenders with air holes, 2 spoilers, bring back the bat mobile who cares what the accountants think car.

I had guessed 85-90K USD earlier today - big money is right.
Personally I don't think these will top $85k.

BMW has hopefully learned its lesson with the M3/4 CS that there is a price ceiling for these models and it's closer to earth than they realize. You can grab a M3/4 CS under $90k rather easily, so I doubt they'd price these up there.

I'm guessing they'll start at $75k but with options the average MSRP will come in just around $80k.

Agreed - I mentioned the same thing with the lessons learned from the M3/4 CS models as well, but it was pointed out that BMW didn't seem to learn from the M4 GTS prior to the CS' debut...so who knows.
