Removed rear wheels and saw this. Anyone have this as an issue?
So I noticed that my rear wheels had a lot of rust looking buildup on the inner hub after the last washing. Decided to finally ceramic coat the wheels. When I pulled off the rears, there was quite a bit of rust as I suspected. Looking at the hub on both sides I saw this. The fronts did not look like this. Looking for insight into why the centering hub(?) is rusting so badly on the rears only. I live in So Cal and while we've had a bit of rain lately, it certainly hasn't been flooding or anything.

That's a common issue. Get a wire brush drill kit and use the attachments with a power drill to quickly knock off the rust. Afterwards wipe down everything and apply anti-seize to the hub. That'll keep it from further rusting.

The dealer classified this as normal..
Rust Treatment works for me, just don't get it on the surface area of the rotor. |

Everyone with these brakes has it. I wire wheeled mine then sprayed with whatever rust inhibiting spray paint was in the garage. I really want to take the rotors off and do it properly but haven't found the motivation yet

I noticed that too on mine. The dealer said not to worry about it as it was a common thing. I didn't believe them, but I didn't think I could do much to prevent it.

Picked up some wire brushes and went to town on the hub. Then coated them in anti-seize. Couldn't really get in the corners that well so I guess we'll see how they hold up now. Tired of rusty water smears on the inside barrels of my wheels right after I wash it.
