Panel below A/C & Radio?

Does anyone have experience removing this panel? And or what and how much space is behind the panel? It feels like it is clipped in, but I don't want to break it, obviously. Thanks in advance!

Not removing, but I've poked around back there by feel, and from the side by flashlight on my 2 Series (ran a wire from the center console storage bin to the steering column). The only thing that functions outwardly there is one of the interior LEDs, which is on the underside of the crease in the middle of the panel. There's nothing immediately behind it beyond some wiring looms and sheet metal side supports. I've seen pics of someone using the space to mount an aftermarket HU.

Take a look at these blowup diagrams on realoem (scroll down to "Instrument Carrier/Mounting Parts") for an idea of how the center console fits together.

Assuming it's the same as the F30, it pops off easily with trim removal tools. Just place it in the top center and pry off. But there's really no room behind it. The dash under it curves just like the panel. It just allows you to access the wires/led for the ashtray light.

Pics # 2 and 4 in THIS THREAD kind of give you an idea, but they aren't at a very good angle.

There is a nice void above the panel you're asking about beneath the NBT unit. The reason for the void? The CIC unit in 1st gen F30s took up the whole space.

Check out 1:20 - 2:00 of THIS video. It should answer all your questions.

I want to know how can I remove that part, too.
2016 F87 M2.
This part is different with F30. I could found F30's solution. But... that's too easy. But M2.... not easy.
Maybe, if you can, please let me know more detail~ haha

I don’t remember the details anymore. I think i started by removing the air vents on top of the radio. Than the bolts and so on.

Here is a pre LCI M2 vid for the rennline phone mount. Remove the vents, then the radio controls, then you should be able to easily check the lower portion clips etc.
