M2 Space Saver
I am a tad nervous going on long trips..... has anyone in the UK or Ireland sourced a space saver for the M2? I have seen the one on this forum, but $299 plus $150 shipping and then customs makes this an expensive option!

There are BMW space savers available, but they will probably only fit on the rear due to the 380mm front brakes.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/322476590683 Watch out for kits for the newer models, FWD 2er, G11, G12, G30, i3, i8, etc I understand these cars have adopted a new PCD (bolt pattern). 19" space savers are available for X5/X6, but I think due to the tyre size they may foul the arches on a 1-4 series car.

M2 Space Saver - Fitted!
I had the same concerns about long trips in Europe without a spare. With much help from "andrettifan" on the USA part of the forum who got the Bimmerzone kit in the USA, I've put together my own kit sourced from the UK.
1. Space Saver wheel rim from my BMW Dealer from an X5 I believe: Part Number 36116768861 2. Bridgestone Space Saver Tyre: 145/70R18 3. Genuine BMW 2 Series Jack 4. 5mm Wheel Spacer for use on front only. When the Space Saver is mounted on the Front, the rim actually does clear the brake caliper although it is very close. Bimmerzone supply a 5mm wheel spacer to give a little extra clearance on the front. Rear does not need the spacer to be used. Hope this helps. Big thanks to "andrettifan" as I say who mailed me photos to enable me to find all the parts locally. |
