I'm getting an average of 24.3 mpg (9.7 L/100km) with a best of 30.7 and a worst of 22.3. Looking at other M2s on fuelly, there seems to be about a 4 MPG average gap between the 6-speed and the DCT.

Keeping the boost pressure up between gears with DCT is probably part of the gap.

There is almost a 25% difference between DCT and MT. The sample size is not great and we don't know the driving style of each but still, that is a big difference.

Anyone on here that drives a MT that is getting 24 or so MPG?

I have not been checking as it's not a DD for me but 9L per 100km (25mpg) sounds unrealistic for this car - especially when driven hard as some have said they are and still get 9L/100km...no way!

I envy you. The best we have is shell 91 octane. no 93 to be found. Husky carries 94 but it's 10% ethanol blend. Not that it really matters or anything but the shell 91 is ethanol free and BMW "recommends" shell v-power... meaning (shell paid BMW to recommend them)

I get 30 mpg quite often, but only for very brief intervals of time, and only when going downhill. -scr

Road trip from Northern PA to Central VA, nearly 100% highway and just cruising at 75 - 80. Easy to do with the DCT when your net elevation change is downhill.

You're on the wrong board - pic of M235...

You know what really makes that statement a joke (realizing you were a bit sarcastic) - you can get a GT3 with an extended range fuel tank - 25 gallons! - FOR NOTHING EXTRA!

Remember the days when a manual got better mileage than an automatic?

And yes I know the DCT is not an automatic.

The DCT has the real overdrive 7th gear, that the manual doesn't have. That's why Porsche added a 7th speed to the manual tranny. On the Vette as well, I believe. Coasting downhill with a DCT doesn't count for realistic mileage.

My tank of 30 mpg wasn't coasting downhill, but I agree it is not typical milage.

I drive a lot of exclusive highway driving. My car is filled only with 93 octane Shell gas. I have the 6MT and with the cruise control set in comfort mode at 80MPH the tach reads between 3000 and 3100 rpm. At that setting, I get 24mpg but that's about 95% highway miles. City driving, I'm getting about 20mpg in sport+.

It's been 8 months since I let go of my 135is and picked up my M2 but I think my 1er was even worse. To be sure the M2 is bad but not enough for me to get rid of the car.

I average about 18mpg and do ALOT of long distance highway driving. According to my automatic adapter, the 49 mile range alert is really 100 miles. I don't wait that long- never know!

I have the MT, and in Comfort on the highway you can do 28 or so. Doing more than that means lowering my speed to 60 instead of 80. That was definitely a hypermile type throttle approach, though. Leave it in 6th, no more than quarter throttle to accelerate. Pretty boring, but was a fun game to play with myself on a long drive to St. Louis.

If I drive it like it isn't the sports car it is and pretend it's just another car, I get around 24. I live in the city, so there isn't a ton of opportunity for spirited driving. You can just tell the car hates it, though. It wants to go. Adding some bursts of spirited driving puts me at 18.

Why would you tell ppl your mpg with conditions like that?

Same here. I was filling up once a week with my 135, fill up once a week now with the M2, nothing changed

I get around 22mpg in comfort mode and auto start stop disabled in my MT. Lowest I've seen was around 7mpg in sport+ we got less than 100 from that tank

My OBC shows 20.8mpg for each tank w/ 85% 75-80mph hwy miles. DCT. I'm in sport, but makes no difference from comfort while cruising AFAIK. DCT doesn't downshift a gear like the 8AT.

MPG is the wrong metric for this car. Should have a smiles-per-gallon gauge. I've been getting 13.x MPG over 5 or 6 thousand miles, and I've loved every second of it.

For me 300 mile range for a full tank is my break point on whether a tank is adequately sized for a vehicle. With 13.7 gallons, M2 falls within this criteria and I would rather the more reasonable trunk size rather than a bigger tank.
