Emergency Pull Down Trunk Release

Like a few people have posted... my 2015 M235i trunk won't open no matter what I do (fob, inside car trunk release, in glove box trunk release). There is no key hole to simply open the trunk it's all electronic via the Trunk Actuator Motor which I believe is dead (went from fast to slow clicking).
There is simply no way to open without getting into the back seat which I did via two helpful YouTube videos. Now the problem... When I pull the Emergency Release Handle absolutely nothing happens! So if a person was in the trunk they would not be able to get out.
Has anyone else experienced this and if so how do you access the Trunk Actuator Motor if you can't A) Open the trunk and B) remove the actuator motor and trunk liners off since it's closed and a few of the removal screws are in the seam of the trunk which is completely non accessible! I am stumped. And I don't see any recall notice on this issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have an answer for you but I think the only option may be a sharp knife or multitool to cut away a section of the trunk cover (Trunk Lid Trim Panel - a replacement should run around $80) and try to get to the emergency pull mechanism which, I think, should be mechanical vs electrical.

Maybe you'll see what is going or be able to do some troubleshooting. Going to be tuff to get in there and get enough light in there to work. Good luck!

The emergency pull down is manual but it does nothing when pulled. I’ve located an excellent mechanic, if/when he solves this problem I’ll update this post.

Ya but I'm thinking the emergency handle is maybe broken off from the cable and maybe you can get to the cable itself and pull it with a pliers or vice grips.

I gave it one last try. Wiggled my body into the trunk kept messing with the pull down cord while pushing on the trunk, after about five minutes it opened, still not sure how! Installed the new $29 actuator from eBay and the trunk now opens perfectly every time. Local BMW dealer wanted $750 to fix. I installed a cord (attached to the pull down handle) into the back seat so future actuator failure should take seconds to fix. My experience shows a serious BMW design flaw.

While I 100% agree with you, it's only a design flaw because you were unwilling to pay $750 to have it fixed! To the BMW dealer, it's probably 20 bucks in parts, maybe 100 bucks in labor and 630 buck in profit!
