So for "Cold Bulb Checks," the bulbs are switched on by a short current pulse without the bulb being powered up. "Warm Bulb Checks" while the lights are powered on, the hot monitoring measures the individual power outputs, to assist in detection of any short and open circuits. A faulty incandescent bulb is detected within approx. 2 seconds. For the record, LEDs are not cold-monitored, as LEDs react too quickly and would light up or strobe, when powered off. |

So the day finally came.
I was actually on my way to the service dept. for my 30,000 miles service when it happened. How convenient. ‘Rear left’ turn signal malfunction. I’ll update you guys with what they decide to fix. |

Picked up a 2019 M2C in 6MT last week, within a day noticed the right rear turn signal malfunction. Took it to the dealer they replaced the whole taillight assembly. They said "because its LED they don't have bulbs, whole light needs to be replaced" ??? lol whatever I'll take a free light.
As an added bonus, whatever tech swapped it must've used a metal flathead to pry out the taillight (why, I have no idea you can pull it by hand once unbolted). Put 2 nice nicks down to the plastic of the bumper right below the taillight. Super noticeable on my HS Long story short, dealer will be repainting my entire rear bumper for free. In the end it will fix the only other scratch on the car at least. But super annoyed I have to be without my brand new car for a whole week. |

So I started getting this issue repeatedly after owning my 18 LCI for just a couple weeks.
I took it to the dealer last weekend to get it looked at, but they claimed they couldn't find the fault code, and I couldn't get the issue to reoccur while at the dealer (figures...). I assumed with as many people reporting this issue and getting taillights replaced that the dealer would have a fix for it, but they're playing dumb instead. Any suggestions for convincing the dealer to actually do something about it? Are there any dealer implemented solutions that have actually worked permanently? (I refuse to DIY fix an issue that should be covered under warranty, especially if it's electrical). |

Yeah, my dealer didn’t do much with it even after me bringing the car in with the warning message still on.
It happened again that evening, but hasn’t returned since. I’m thinking of turning the warm bulb check off if the issue persists. |

I managed to get the error to come on while running an errand in the vicinity of the dealer, so I stopped by and had them look at it again today. I left the car running so the warning wouldn't clear, and the dealer was forced to look at it, at least. They ended up replacing the tail light. The service manager claimed the tech found a short in the taillight that caused one of the LED elements to flicker and likely tripped the CC message. They're convinced the problem is fixed. Here's to hoping they're right. |

After reading about PrinceCity’s issue with the tail light smoking, I decided to let the dealer work on it instead of disabling the bulb check.
Hopefully they replace the unit. |

Was changing lanes on the highway and used the left indicator. Immediate rapid flash. But no warning or error came up on the Idrive. This is about 3 weeks after the dealer replaced the REM.

My direction is to contact the dealership, because the more people who do the more likely BMW will find a solution to this.

I had the error come back, after having a bunch of stuff replaced at the dealership two months ago. Here is a link to my service record of everything that was done.
https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...&postcount=222 I contacted my dealership and they will be looking at my car on Monday. When I was there, there was another guy (with a regular 2-series) having the same problem. I spoke with him and explained everything I know and the thoughts from this thread. With that, my dealership now sees for themselves that it's not just me with the issue. So it's not just me they have to deal with anymore, which should help get things resolved. I'm bowing out of investigating the cause of the error myself. I don't have the technical experience to diagnose it, nor do I have the time to gain that experience or mental capacity to debate theories right now. So much other things going on in my life that I have to focus on. I'm still working with my dealership and telling them everything I know, but other than that I am putting it in their hands to figure out a solution. *For those who have had the issue come back, how long after the repair did you see it come up again? |
