BMW M2 CS Tint Thread
Getting my windows tinted (Misano Blue) next week and wanted to see photos of members who have their windows tinted.
Planning to go 35% all around and leave the front alone. Would love if other members here can share the film and % they used on their cars. |

I'm thinking about Xpel 45 all around and 75 on the windshield to help protect the dash.
I'm going in on Tuesday. I'll send pics later in the week.

Also getting Misano Blue but thinking of going 20% all around (no windshield). I saw a few good examples of 35% and thought it was too light.

If you do the full front window as well it makes the 35% dark enough imo. It also keeps it legal in some states. They typically do not have a meter capable of testing windows that don't roll down. There are loopholes for passing inspection in NC with darker tint, but didn't want the hassle. I also don't want to make any law enforcement nervous when approaching my car.

I did 20% Xpel XR on windows and 70% On windshield. Very happy with it, though if I were to do it again I might change to 30-35 on the windows. I did that on my last M3 and felt it was a tad too light, but this time it feels a tad too dark (from the outside, not from drivers POV), especially with the windshield tinted.

My last car was 35 all around and felt that it was a tad too light as well but I think the carbon roof on the car makes it seem darker in photos for some reason. |

Here is a pic of 35% with a lot of light and a bright background. If looking for privacy you'd likely want darker. It does seem like the tint has a reflective property that makes it a bit more difficult to see inside when up close.
Indoor lighting. CS in front of mine has no tint. Last edited by medphysdave; 01-10-2021 at 09:49 PM.. |

Looks spot on. The usual light coming thru the windshield makes the 20 not as dark as others 35 with windshield tint
Now I have some thinking to do. Drop to 35 and no windshield or do 45 or 50 With 75 on the windshield

I tell you what, that tint in contrast with the colour of the CS complemented by the gold wheels looks absolutely stunning

Specs are: HRE FF04 Frozen Stone Dark F: 19x9 ET20, 255/35/19 DWS06 R: 19x10 ET35, 275/35/19 DWS06 They did slightly rub at the front of the front fender liner, but with a little dose of heat was able to very slightly adjust the liner to give clearance. |

I ask because Virginia has about the most restrictive laws (50% front sides, no tint on windshield). Tempted to do 50% all around and go ahead and take my chances with 75% on windshield. Experience/thoughts would be welcome. |

It’s basically just a layer of uv protectant from what I understand. I haven’t decided what tint for my windows yet thou. I did 45 on my white Toyota last week and it came out perfect. However that had a darker Tint from factory already

Will do - calling him on my lunch break shortly. Figure 75% is pretty safe, and the worst that can happen is a ticket and have to remove it. Same philosophy for front license plate - not going to install it right away (we'll see how that goes .. suspect far more likely to get ticketed than for the tint). Thanks Mike

That's a pretty nice set of wheels for the winter! Based on the pictures, the wheel/tire set up looks flush with the fenders (ie. no poke). I'm considering the HREs and prefer the wheels to be slightly less than flush. A stock 245/265 tire size combined with the HRE 20/35 offset may be better for me. |
