When dealing with E30 m3's there are 2 rules

rule #1. Never sell an E30 M3....only buy

rule #2. see rule #1

I worry this is a rule now for my E36 m3 as I consider selling it and I hear from past owners how they miss theirs

Maybe down the road and especially if people are continuing to turn them into track cars. I think it's one of the best all around engines BMW has made and they made some good ones. Durable, Sounds good, Good torque. Nothing sexy but good at everything. Such an underated engine as most will tell you it's the worst M engine ever introduced in the US. I respectfully disagree.

I couldn't agree more. The S55 is a great engine. Extremely reliable. Yes we hear the about the crank hub failures, but look at the numbers.

How long have you had your LTWs? Pick any up during the recent sale?

No but I sure was watching. Everyone was going bananas over that. And ironically I'm watching Fast and Furious now

PTG LTW I've had for almost 4 years. Can't believe how time flies. The second one is a project for sure. I've had that almost a year. My son jokes I have the best LTW and the worst LTW. I think I agree with him.

I usually don't buy projects but I couldn't help myself with the LTW. I picked it up from BAT last year. Someone did an aweful job welding in the cage and it formed rust there. Not bad actually. Currently it's completely apart and I'm waiting for some inspiration for the next step. But for now it's tucked in a dark corner of the warehouse on simmer. Might be a good retirement project in about 10 years.

Thank you kindly. Most of the decks came from GarageWelt His artwork is really good and I would recommend those for sure. He produces them in limited production runs and once they are sold, that's it. Doesn't make them again. I have about 30 others in storage. I thought it might be too much to put them all up so I'll just rotate them from time to time.

It's funny really. I remember back in the 90s all the US guys were so pissed off about getting that engine.

Fast forward. You guys got the better engine after all. The double VANOS turned out to be a complete turd. Once fixed it never felt the same either. It was pretty amazing when new though.

Also. About 2 weeks until I post my garage pic now. Excited!

I did. M2C is my DCT daily driver. For now. Not sure what I want to replace it with. Maybe an M5C ? IDK, they are bigger, heavier, faster and way more expensive. We'll see.

Sadly, a few of my other BMWs didn't make the photo. It may not be until spring before they can all be reunited under one roof...

And, for the curious observer, I'm sure the "non-BMW" at the end might attract some attention. To me, it's -the coolest- "non-BMW". Owned by a really good friend and stored along with my cars

100%! I miss mine so so so very much! I'd love to get myself back into an e36 and just add it to the collection.

I've got an idea for you to consider. To find inspiration, get into your CS and drive west chasing the Sun really fast.

I'm sure there will be a few ideas that will come to you, and even if they don't, so what? You have the M2CS@sunset to remember for years; surely that can't be bad

Have my Euro E36 M3 (3.2L) for 25 years, approaching now 350,000 kms. Vanos reliability has indeed been terrible (replaced it three times ) but except that the 3.2 engine is a great engine with a fantastic sound. I just love this car and it is still my prefer M car, the E46 with the competition pack being a close second. The M2C is my least favourite, definitely a fun car with a great chassis but the turbo engine is not doing it for me.
