I use and have been very happy with Optimum No-Rinse as well.

I have full PPF with ceramic coating and outside of the initial pucker inducing cost I don't have any regrets. The car is ultra easy to keep clean and looks great all of the time. However, I don't have PPF on any of my other vehicles and there is a certain freedom to not giving a fvck how something looks. And for the Raptor people might accuse you of having a parking lot queen if there's no dirt.

No PPF on our family car. I haven't even repaired the bumper scrapes it received after two weeks of ownership.

Yup, Freedom. The kid's Subaru was dented a few years back in a BART lot and we never bothered to fix it because it's just going to happen again.

While I have no regrets about getting the Full Monty completed on the M2C I do have many of the same reservations about the cost/value. I have also upgraded many other parts of the vehicle including audio, concealed radar detector, suspension, wheels, etc so my spend at this point is substantial.

I do intend to keep the car long term (8-10 years) but like many others on this forum I am now at a point where I can afford to say WTF and chase some other shiny object. Any trade or sale would just be a massive write-off because most modifications add nothing to the sale price.

I'm also afraid of what happens in the event of an accident. My current insurance does not substantially cover all the modifications or the labor cost associated with those modifications. And even if I'm prepared (I am) to re-spend my own funds to make the car right again what happens if the car is considered totaled. Lot of time/investment lost and get to start again on the next project.

If you get PPF/ceramic .make sure to contact your insurance company to give them the receipts. Mine covers it so if I get hit in a panel it will be included in the repair.

That is a great idea I hadn't considered. Also doing full PPF.

I have all receipts and a lot of detailed pictures of the work completed. I went to a high $$$ end for the PPF/ceramic work and I'm not sure if insurance would cover the full cost or a predetermined generic amount. I hope that I never have to find out.

I unfortunately had to find out on my Jeep Trackhawk. Insurance covered the cost of replacement from the same shop. I showed them my receipt from first time around and they wrote me a check. Pretty easy. State Farm.

Great response. Coming at it from a financial perspective will likely never make sense.

The great thing about the car hobby is balancing the brain decisions with the heart decisions. Always a struggle
Wait, what? There is a balance? why nobody told me!?

Beautiful car. As far as PPF vs detailing, I ended up with a Zymol Smart kit that I'll put to use after winter hibernation and my small modification projects are completed (springs and Home Depot ram air intake). If in ten years I feel like the paint is garbage, I'll just have it repainted. Of course in 10 years, my M2C might be a barn decoration since it's a gas guzzler that will be banned from the streets by 2030.

Update 1 12 21:

After dropping my car off for tint I noticed a couple rock chips already and I couldn't stand it! The temptation was too strong to overcome. PPF coming. What can I say...I gave it the old college try.

At least you tried. And it's a good data point that you already have some stone chips.

Thanks man. The stone chips on BSM paint are white!! And I couldn’t handle that. First black car. Most of my other cars are white and stone chips don’t seem to bother me as much.
