Horn Not Working

Hello all,

2017 M2. Went to use my horn and it didn't work. Hooked up Carly and got code 8044A5. Description is related to the horn.

I am finding mixed results when searching and researching the fix. Some are saying it's the horns shorted out and done are pointing to a fuse on the Front Engine Module.

Yes the car is under warranty but I do not care for dealer service centers and I like to do things myself. Does anyone know where the FEM is in our cars? Any experience with fixing this on your own?

Thanks!

My horn also just stopped working on my 2017 M2. Won’t be under warranty since I’m out of 36 month bumper to bumper.
Let me know if you find any good info on fixing yourself. I’ll do the same.

There are two horns, the horn module usually gets wet and conks out..

It's a cheap part if you want to DYI it..

As they age it can take a longer rest to resume full functionality too.

I've had my low frequency horn fail twice within a year and replaced while under warranty. They're just not very...durable?

They are located under wheel well, which causes them to sometimes get exposed to liquid and eventually fail.

Have the exact same issues. Have you found out whether it's the fuse or the horn itself was broken? THX

Fixed Under Warranty

I forgot to update after repairs. I took it in to the dealer since the car was still under warranty. Both horns were replaced. No blown fuse.
