Did you try restarting the car?
Lots of people had the same issue happen.
Most of the time, a simple restart will bring back the sounds.
Mine does it occasionally.

I went out to pick up my wife from work, and when I parked I shut the car off for maybe 2 minutes max (the parking guy was shooing me away). Maybe I didn't shut the car off long enough? It was definitely "off" at least for a couple of minutes, because my dashcam makes an audible noise when it goes into parking mode.

I think the iDrive system takes a while to fully shut down.
I normally leave it about 3+ min (gas fillups etc.) until a restart, and it returns back to normal.

You'll know the idrive is reset if you see the m start up animation on your nav screen. Usually takes the engine being off and the key being out of comfort access range for something like 5 - 10 min. If you hop in and out of the car on an errand it won't do it.

I got this visual on the screen when I held the power/volume button for 30s. I got this instruction from Google, but maybe this variant of hard reset wasn't sufficient/equivalent to the one you suggested. Thanks tho, I'll try that in the future (tho hoping I won't need to).

So I fiddled with the EQ setting, tried most of them, left it on the F45 for several days but in the end went back to F87/F22 for clearer trebles and mids.

Bass +4
Treble +1
Fader +1 (towards the front)

It just works better for the types of music I listen to.

I have a 2018 M2 and it already had "New F22/F87" selected. Is it because I have an LCI? I see some people selecting that one over F45. Im wondering if M2C owners have the same one selected by default.

I have an LCI and it also was F22_New/F87 stock. I imagine M2C is likely the same.

Just collected my M2C this evening, and discovered no EQ like on my F36, and F30 before. Reading about this f45 adaption, is there a way to activate the EQ again?
I was actually running Bower & Wilkins software on my f36 for the last couple of years, and think it had the edge over the HK processing. B&O was also available, but I stuck with B&W once I activated it

Not sure what you mean, there are adjustable EQ settings in iDrive. Should be under "Tone Settings". iDrive EQ is completely independent from the EQ coding and can be modified separately.

I just swapped from a 2017 M2 to a 2021 M2 Comp. The HK in the 21 sounds much better than my 17. Am I imagining this?

As stated in the posts above, the amp EQ coding changed for the newer cars (LCI/M2C) which come preloaded with "New F22/F87". It arguably sounds way better than the Pre-LCI settings.

You can try any of the other settings (such as F45) and play with it and see what you like.

The only adjustment is bass and treble, not the HK multi band graffic EQ

Yeah we don't get that in the F87 to my knowledge. Not sure if it can be coded in.

Just use F22/23 new, to my knowledge it’s the same thing
