No, will not go that route - although you never know... For now, I want to figure out what full exhaust (no cutting) I want. Not too loud though...

Hey CS clique,

Need some expert advice on this one.
I was interested in the LED Race Display Performance Steering Wheel for our cars, but needed confirmation on compatibility.

The M2 item for the Competition has the matte weave surround trim piece:
https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-3...-race-display/

The M3 / M4 is the gloss carbon surround trim piece that will match our interior nicely:
https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-1...f80-m3-f82-m4/

Is the M3 / M4 item compatible with the CS?

Logic has me thinking that the bean counters at BMW wouldn't create a whole new part like this and maybe the trim piece is the only modification to the wheel.

I tried the search and read through a few threads for a definitive answer to no avail..

This one in particular:
M Performance Steering wheel?
https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1250799

Thanks for any help!

Didn't see either of these answered so here you go:
Weight savings is 38.4 lbs for the full, catback exhaust
You do not need to install the valve controller. It defaults to factory logic and actuation and opens/closes when in efficient or sports+.
I will say this though - sports+ does not fully open the valves, it's only 60 or 70%. So when you use the controller to open the valves it's even louder than sports+.

Should be cross compatible, even though realoem lists them as different part numbers.
I haven't installed mine yet, so cannot say with 100% certainty, but as an example the BMW installation instructions attached list F2x, F3x, and F8x models. (Only attaching a screenshot since they're older instructions and for the M-Sport Race Display wheel and a couple of the steps don't apply to M3/M2)

This thread may also help. Couple people mention using the M3/M4 one in M2 without issues.
https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...1250799&page=6

If you're installing it yourself, this is another good thread to read and an extremely useful DIY video. (FYI - please take a healthy dose of "this is way harder than the video makes it seem"). Or maybe that was only me.

Thanks f80_MG
I saw that some members mention having one from an M3 that they intended to install on the of M2, but some of the threads didn't include follow up.

Appreciate the response.

Are you saying you have the gloss one also?

Do let us know if / when you install.

I'm also quite interested in this as to whether the M3 wheel will work for the M2 - the gloss carbon fiber would be of interest. Although I am thinking about just re-using the matte black plastic from the stock wheel instead of either carbon piece. Slightly prefer the ///M instead of ///Mperformance logo at the base.

Yes, I have the gloss one (and the M3 part number wheel).

I wouldn't wait on me to install it, will probably wait till the spring since I don't have a heated workspace and we have 0 degree weather right now
One of the MPerformance Part brochures mentions you can cross order an M2 electronic wheel with a gloss carbon part but since I've never seen that part online, I'm assuming it's something the parts guy at a dealership could do. (If I find the brochure I will post it later)

I did think about purchasing the M2 wheel and a gloss carbon insert separately or keeping the plastic original piece with a painted inner trim (in place of the silver one).
But both the original plastic part with the ///M and the dry carbon insert have the M or MPerformance as an insert or a sticker on top of the carbon weave. The gloss one is the only one which had a smooth finish with the logo under the clear coat and just felt nicer to hold; so I settled on that one.

MaaaaaaaaN

I wish I lived near you so I could salivate from close range.

Everything I've tried to order is so damn difficult to get to Australia right now it's bloody heartbreaking.

We've been waiting for some HKS coil-overs for the Supra since June last year and keep getting told shipping is the problem.

Good to hear. Turns out I'll have to wait - car is in for PPF/coating/tint probably through next weekend Nothing better to do this weekend than pick out CDs I intend to rip to the hard drive (I'm assuming it allows you to do so without issue ... ?)
