Did a more careful assessment today with the phone display. My roof's not perfect, but easily close enough for me. Kinda like the few little "raclette" patches. I didn't appreciate how small the tiles were - they look larger on everyone's image posts. The roof looks stunning in the right light (low reflection). Shame there isn't more checkerboard contrast, with all the clear coat on the roof.

Yes - I recall that info from your earlier post. But IMO it's kind of throwing the baby out with the bathwater, unless the wavy gravy really grates on you.

Just noticed that my roof is really bad in one spot. I'm selling the car immediately and ordering a GT4.

Shakespeare did not name that play about infidelity and expectations, by chance like that. It is assumed that he coined it that way as a tongue-in-cheek to cover both "much ado about nothing" and "much ado about noting" (noticing the infidelity by a partner or imagining it, and how to deal with it: an issue or something to be ignored).
Now, applied to the 'raclette' phenomenon on several M2 CS CFRP roofs: that was definitely not supposed to happen, but it did, and attempts were made to correct it. It was noticed/noted. For some it's nothing, for others it's questionable. IMHO this phenomenon does not belong on a top-of-the-range BMW M car that changes hands for F82 M4 money. It's a premium brand. If BMW asks top dollar for the Über M2, then the customer is entitled to get top dollar quality. Cannot imagine Porsche quality control ever accepting anything like that on its P-cars. Like in this Edie Brickell song of the 80s (imaginary conversation with her significant other): "Don't tell me nothing I don't wanna know | There's nothing I hate more than 'nothing' | 'Nothing' keeps me up at night | I toss and turn over 'nothing' | 'Nothing' could cause a great big fight".

Every pic I take with flash in my garage makes it look 10x worse than it really is. I couldn't careless, took me weeks of ownership to look for it (just saw it while I was gassing up today).
It doesn't affect the way it drives and i plan to spend much more time behind the wheel thank looking at the roof. |

Somewhat related to the topic, I came across this thread today, regarding peeling of the carbon fiber roof's clear coat..
One way of other, I guess you just catch a break with these roofs: Carbon Fiber Roof Peeling on 2015 M3 https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1605798 |

This is why it's super important to at the very least get the leading front edge w/ PPF. Any chip down into the fiber will cause eventual mass clear coat failure on these roofs. If you do get a chip, make sure to fill it in ASAP. Any compromise in the clear coat means moisture will get in, and actually start causing the de-lamination throughout the entire panel. |

Granted, they all do reside in hotter climates and who knows how their car was maintained. However, seems alarming that this is possible, whatever the reason might be.. I've decided that my next car is going to have a sunroof or if carbon is the default option, I'm going to paint over it black, to possible avoid this.. |

I never tested the theory, so I'm not sure how effective PPF can be but it's an option to consider, I guess.. |

Do you know what Toyota did with the GR Yaris roof ? It's truly CF, but also wrapped with CF lookalike wrap with the common pattern. Look here @ 07:19-07:47:
