Is the lag also present in the DCT ?
There is nothing stopping you from plugging in your phone over USB to use CarPlay...
I thought car play was only wireless on m2?

Carplay initialization (the handshake between the phone and iDrive upon startup) will still be done wirelessly, but the connection should be more stable over a wired connection. I agree with you that it would be nice if you could force carplay to NOT initiate the handshake unless you plug in your phone.

There is no wired CarPlay. It only works wirelessly.

I understand the carplay communication happens wirelessly no matter what. I am just pointing out that you can still plug in your phone (to charge, for example) and keep using carplay. Posts in this thread seem to imply that carplay stops working the minute you plug your phone in and I'm just pointing out that's not true.

Two questions (Apologies in advance if they are already answered but I couldn't find them):

1. Is there any way to scroll songs from CarPlay on the center cluster like you can when using I drive? Basically if I use Apple Music I can only click back or next but can't scroll through the playlist using the steering wheel wheel. I'm running an iPhone 11 Pro and have a 2020 M2C fwiw.

2. Is there any way to make CarPlay nav directions show in the center cluster like when you use iDrive for Navigation?

Thanks!

As many have already pointed out - definitely recommend the services of kubax86!
I'm afraid to do this. Is it pretty straight forward? I'll have to borrow a PC laptop as I'm on a Mac. Not really a PC user.

Is it worth it?

Would I still be able to update the iDrive software or will updating it kill the CarPlay again?

Yes, really straight forward. You just connect and watch while we work.

Update will deactivate CarPlay but you just simply reactivate CarPlay again after dealer update.

I also just bought an 2018 M2 with nor Apple car play activated.
I just had the trunk latch lock replaced under warranty and asked the BMW dealer who replied that BMW now charges $300 and it is done by calling them using the SoS button.

https://bimmer-remote.com/collection...ideo-in-motion sounds like a better option that I might explore as well.
My software version NBTevo_N180921

+1 for a great experience with kubax. Thanks! I have only had my car for 4 weeks and I wish I would have done this sooner!

Same here. Kubax did an awesome job. Very patient and professional. Prepare your PC or Mac.... my old PC didn’t work and was cutting in/out on its connection. So we had to do another take. Take #2 on another laptop and it went smooth!

Now on full screen ... I just need to start using it. BMW should really just include this in every car for free.

Thanks a lot!
Worth to mention it was firmware upgrade + CarPlay Fullscreen activation

kubax86 I read somewhere that to go fullscreen, "Your vehicle must be updated to the latest firmware (NBT_EVO_X)".

1 - Is that right? Why is that? What do you gain by upgrading the firmware?

2 - I'm attaching the software screenshots from 2 of my cars. So am I understanding correctly that my firmware versions are S and R? Should I upgrade if I'm going to go fullscreen?

Hi,
No, you don't need EVO_X to have Fullscreen.
S and R are perfectly fine for Fullscreen. They both supports it.

Going from S, R to X won't give you anything.
NBTEVO_X just supports Fullscreen with only 'coding' and anything lower needs patching and coding.

PM sent.

Short press is idrive commands. Long press takes you to carplay/siri commands.

Anyone figure out how to get waze alerts volume to work in carplay. Waze volume works in all my other cars but my M2. Everything in waze works except for my alerts volume.

I'm going to have to try that again but when i tried this, iDrive said it's deactivated. How can one deactivate the iDrive anyways?

I'll try that Waze also if I'm having that same issue.
