Bimmercode is 100% safe and does not void your warranty and if done correctly, does not reveal any changes, within the vehicle's BUS mapping.
It's only harmful if you don't know WTF you're doing and screw up some parameter coding change but there are fail-safe backups built into the APP, saved onto iCloud's memory. That said, unless you're experienced in coding, I suggest that you leave any parameters that might be safety/engine/drivetrain related, untouched, for obvious reasons. It's prudence to limit your coding activities to that of superficial features that make our life easier on the day to day basis and not interfere with anything that might limit the safety of others and yourself. With great power.. Coding, as done with BimmerCode, does not add new lines to the programming registry and therefore, the checksum does not trigger any telltale mismatched errors for a dealer to notice. This is very much similar to selecting, checking/in-checking options within the iDrive's Infotainment system options list, except that they are not directly accessible. The Bimmercode APP allows a portal into these hidden menu, allowing fine-tuning of specific features, otherwise known as FDL coding. Some feature are de-activated for various reasons (some are market-related, regulations, cost, etc) and you are merely just changing the status of the stock features. So, I don't see any reason why BMW would void your warranty. In my experience, the service managers are pretty level-headed, for the most part. My car was coded for severs years and I just never mentioned it to any of the service centers I had patronized, yet, I never had a single issue with any warranty claim and - I've had a quite a couple that was all rubber-stamped. This whole "BMW will void warranty" folks are being a little too paranoid. There are more cases of getting good will warranty/discount, than BMW refusing warranty a claim, for trivial reasons. BMW service departments have neither the time nor inclination to go fishing to review the vehicle's current coding configuration and just don't give them a reason to, like self-snitching. The worst case scenario happens and you encounter some hard-nosed, service nazi, that insist on busting your balls for some irrelevant changes, the most you might have to do is move up the food-chain and justify to someone in the higher ups, in order to have them reverse a draconian or unreasonable warranty denial. Franchise dealers usually play very nice if you are the first owner, you stay loyal to a single dealer, carry out service as per schedule, etc. If you have also spent money there and maybe splurged on their extended maintenance plan(s), a repeat (i.e. profitable) customer, etc. that can work in your favor, which might push them to be indifferent to your supposed changes. One drawback for coding in your favorite feature is it might not be permanent. If BMW has to update the entire vehicle's software (due to reasons like failed module, compulsory update from BMW, software issues being faced), you coding changes all reset to the original factory setting, so you will lose your coding features and would have to do them over from scratch. Bimmercode back-ups no longer works, upon new software revision. Hope I was able to shed some light on the subject and not confused you guys even further.. |

It really depends on what happens and how deeply someone wanted to investigate. It's easy to undo the changes if you retained your car after an incident. Nothing is untraceable as far as detecting if coding had been performed, but unlikely to be able to determine what was coded unless someone really wanted to know. I can't imagine a scenerio that would garner that level of scrutiny for anything the avg. Person is doing with bummer code.
The top line level codes would be the FA or VO codes. I would consider these the easiest to identify. The cafd or FDL coding would be very difficult to identify without someone running a program to compare factory vs current codes. I doubt that is going to happen at the dealership. If you are doing anti dazzle coding in the US, then I think even bimmer code has to delete the FA code that uncodes anti dazzle. From a personal standpoint I have a new G05 and have changed all the interior lighting to custom colors and made some other tweaks. I'm not worried. When my CS gets here I'll code that one too. |

BimmerCode for other manufactures?
Are there BimmerCode equivalents with similar programmability for other makes? Buddy of mine was looking for his Cayman GTS and couldn’t find any. I was googling for my wife’s Odyssey with no luck.

Anyone know how to code the Easy entry? Is it expert mode or just regular? Module?
BTW, I dont see anyone talking about coding the anti-dazzle high beams here in the US. I did that a couple of weeks ago and its pretty damn good. |

If you have coded back in the Anti Dazzle and the VLD to Euro settings the cornering lights move a great deal more. The US setting is lame compared to the Euro setup.

Yes, my lights turn with the steering wheel. They move around all over the place at night to illuminate dark areas and avoid other cars. Really neat.

I'm not going to go into my entire warning, but please be careful when changing these values, and use the safety value 3rd line on each seat. These numbers are for my 5'10 body and leaving enough room for rear passengers when the seat moves back when the door is opened. Any farther and I struggle to depress the pedals. However, you can tap the start button to bring the seats forward and then start the car.
In the SM2 (6d) module: 3000 SM_GLOBAL -> EINAUSSTIEGSHILFE = Modus_FA_SLV 3012 EAH -> EAH_VERFAHRWEG_SLV_PHYS = Werte=00, 46 3012 EAH -> EAH_SCHUTZFREIRAUM_HINTEN_SLV_PHYS = Werte=00, 4B In the SM2 (6e) module: 3000 SM_GLOBAL -> EINAUSSTIEGSHILFE = UKNOWN, WERTE=03 3012 EAH -> EAH_VERFAHRWEG_SLV_PHYS = Werte=00, 46 3012 EAH -> EAH_SCHUTZFREIRAUM_HINTEN_SLV_PHYS = Werte=00, 4B

https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1362147 Another question - when you exit the seat goes back and stays back, and only comes back up when you reenter the car next time and hit the ignition, right? I ask because sometimes I'll throw a grocery bag, or takeout food, behind the drivers seat. Obviously coding this feature will make that a bit more tight and challenging |

Fog lights double as cornering lights on 2 series [and possibly 3 series] cars. Since the M2 doesn't have fogs we also don't have cornering lights. As others have stated, VLD will allow adaptive LEDs to move more than they normally would when turning the wheel, but does not enable what BMW considers cornering lights.

Probably answered in this thread, apologies if it was and I can't find it.
Any reason I can't leave my dongle plugged into the OBD port? I can't imagine it draws much power that I'd worry about killing the battery. The veepeak one.

Mine's been plugged in for about 2 years now, no trouble. Including some 4 or 5 week winter park ups with no issues.

Can someone with Bimmerlink check to see if I can disable valve open cold starts? It's obnoxious. I don't care if the cats take longer to heat up.
