BMW M2 water leaking into interior

I’ve had my M2 for about 8 months and done about 6,000miles so far. It recently started to rain a lot more over here in the UK and I have heard water sloshing around as I’ve pulled out of the driveway. Water has been dripping down from the drivers side footwell for over a week and I just noticed that there is a small puddle behind the drivers seat!!

Has anyone come across anything like this before?

Had this happen to me on a previous car and ended up being the AC condensation tank, which sat right under the glove box. There was a tube that ran down under the car to drain it that was clogged.

Not sure of this exists in your car or not, but might be worth checking.

I had this happen on another car and it was a clogged drain from the exterior gutter that runs along one of the pillars. I never looked into which pathway was clogged but they cleared it out and it ultimately stopped.

Do you have a sun roof? There are articles about the sun roof gutter drain tubes getting clogged up in BMWs.

Never heard of it. Maybe try the 2 series forum for a larger pool of 2 series experiences?

Hi guys, I don’t have a sunroof. To be honest this is my first BMW so I am not sure what to look for. This car is booked in for the 31st for service so hopefully they will fix the issue quickly. The car interior is going to need drying out though. Not happy.

No need to worry. I'm sure your main dealer will sort out the problem and any concerns you have.

Hi mark, this just happened to my 2015 2 series, the exact same issue. Did you ever got it fix? And if so, what was the solution?.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Had something similar happen on a VW Jetta my wife had years ago, the heater core had a defect and it leaked water/coolant into the passenger footwell.

How is the carpet in the front footwell? If the problem is in the front, I think that carpet would be wet also or, judging by the pic, very wet! I don't know that you'd get that much water in the back if something was leaking in the front of the car. How is the rubber door gasket along the B pillar? Is the passenger window 'popping' up in the seal?

I'd soak up as much as you could with a towel(s), you don't want it just sitting there.
