Mines a 2018 too, i recently gave up after 3 years of intermittent failure both sides. I didnt want to take it for warranty as BMW would update the car and block obd tuning which i use.

The coding fix didn't really do anything for me except prevent dash warning even when the turn signal was failing.

I've not heard of any failures with the later darkline light versions fitted from about 2020 ( may be wrong though).

So i bit the bullet recently and bought 2 new darkline taillights from a eBay ( genuine parts).

So far so good, but early days yet.

I have just joined the club with mine right indicator tail light.
I have an m2C MY19 but luckily is still under warranty.
According to the dealership they are not sure that the warranty can cover this issue, I am waiting for a confirmation by BMW Italy because the taillight has some condensation and drops of water inside (the gasket of the taillight wasn't perfectly fitted)...
I am losing my patience and thinking to try by myself cleaning the connector and using bimmercode...

Hi, there is no gasket on the tail light, its is a one peice glued sealed unit from the factory.

So any water inside means a factory fault or its cracked.

The reversing lamp is removable and has a rubber seal so I think that is the only place where water could get in otherwise.

I’ve seen references here and there to an extended warranty for the issue:
https://www.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=30241082

But I have yet to find actual text from an SIB/TSB describing the issue and warranty extension.

Most customers prefer this to buying EU units

I was planning to buy Euro tails once mine stopped working, but the car was totaled last week . The other driver ran a red light. So many mods I never got a chance to do...

Nope the impact wasn't too bad, it was all ahead of the front wheels. Damage was probably repairable but frame rails bent etc.

Sorry to hear about your car, that sucks big time. I hope you can find a good replacement...what would that be?

Left rear flagged for me today. Only once though...will observing the rest of the week. Anyone know if BMW will do any coding for this if they replace the lamps? Should be plug and play no?

I definitely don't want them touching my ECU/ODB...

Irrespective of the work to be done, for any warranty work, the first stipulation by bmw is the vehicle is updated up to date. And that will update any modules that need it including your dme if its old version software.

That's why i never took mine for any warranty work and had to fix /pay for faults myself, including new tail lights eventually.

Yup same here. I have a 2018 build and never took my M2c in for any updates. Not worth it to me.

I've had very good success with simply telling the service advisor and/or techs working on it with "no updates, no coding, no flash" and they listened.

For warranty work especially, they will not do anything more than the bare minimum since they get paid by the labor hour.

Taillight replacement wouldn't require programming or coding.

I tried that, they just refuse to do the warranty work.

Maybe UK specific but here in order for dealers to get any warranty claim approved the first stage has to be "vehicle updated to current level".

I had to refuse the HK amp splash guard fitment recall as they said the vehicle would also have to be updated.
