A lap from my Mid-Ohio HPDE weekend

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
I am far from an experienced track person, just 1 HPDE a year at Mid-Ohio over 4 years. Thought I'd share a video from a lap. Data was a bit laggy coming from the OBD and out of sync, GPS was not getting more than 3hz.

Had an amazing time driving this car and having owned an M2C and also driven it a couple times at Mid-Ohio, no doubt there is a significant difference.

Thanks for sharing! I'll be there on the 19th I believe with my CS, so I'm excited for the chance to check it out.

First time at the track or first with the CS? What event is it? My home track so usually easy to get to.

It'll be my first time at that track. It'll be the second track day with the CS. I've got about 18 years of various motorsports stuff and Skip Barbers under my belt and will be coming straight off the 2 day M Advanced school the week prior as well. It'll take me a session to lock down the overall lines, and I've got the Garmin Catalyst to help with that as well, so I'm looking forward to it!

I'll be running there with MVP for the Saturday 9/18 session. Then heading to NCM with Chin on Sunday. Be pretty cool if you make it out for one of them!

Is it typical now that most events at Mid-Ohio use that chicane-like entry into the keyhole? That really puts the entry angle into the keyhole at an interesting level -- kind of makes it like a big sweeper at a Nationals autocross course including the speed. Probably best to adhere to "tight is right" and minimize the distance traveled while holding the car on it limits around the keyhole. It really changes that turn a lot.

I can't really say. All the events there I have been to were BMWCCA run and were set that way. I think other organizations use both. Presumably because there's little runoff at the end of the straight.

It did seem like keeping close but not super tight there allowed me to carry more speed. Lighter cars carried wider lines. A young woman in a BRZ was flying through there a bit wider than me.

There are few things more satisfying than reading line analysis while having my morning coffee. Thanks guys!

Thanks. Yeah it's been way longer than I would have liked since I've driven Mid-Ohio, and that chicane wasn't there back then (1980). Someday I'll get back there I hope.

The track is fantastic. Very technical with most turns quickly tied to another so set up is important.

If you do Carousel right, you'll exit at full or close to full throttle and hit a small bump on exit taking you to the front straight.

Thunder Valley and Madness are are favorites of mine.

If you have the opportunity to rent garage space, take it. Usually cheap and the ones by paddock are pull through with 2 doors. Nice on hot days.

Different organizing groups attract different people. Sometimes not in a good way. I have no experience with this group.

I might just join you Saturday
