Yes that's all it takes to remove the light. I've removed it myself and the connector was squeaky clean even after 4 years. 2018 OG M2

This thread helped me fix my issue. I had the tail light error on my OG LCI and coded it out. Hopefully it works for you if it is a coding issue and not a mechanical one. Here is a video I did on the coding. If you like it give it a thumbs up and subscribe because I have heaps of M2 content coming.

Honestly this is not a fix and just adding to the confusion. Putting it on YouTube for the sake of views is even worse.
Coding that out is not the solution.

BMW is aware of the problem (at least BMW North America) and has extended warranty on the tail lights for it. They replace them.

If it was a coding solution, they would have easily updated that via software updates.

I don't think BMW will code it out because that would be disabling a safety feature of the car.
