Not exactly correct.

There are 4 cats on S55 engines, 2 primary cats situated in the downpipes, and 2 secondary cats situated in the mid pipe. AA mid pipe deletes the secondary cats.

The cats that are monitored for Emissions are BEFORE the ones the midpipe delete. Its not a problem...

I suppose that is true as far as the cars error codes. However if a state smog inspector inserts a sensor in the exhaust pipe, it may or may not be an issue depending on how stringent smog standards are in that area.

My experience in GA with an S 54 - stock headers have the cats. I replaced them with no-cat headers and a midpipe with hi flow cats. No problem at all with emissions testing.

My guess is you will be fine as long as you have the stock downpipes

It's been 4 years since I lived there, but at that time they did tailpipe test as well.
