Don't worry, a Rolls Royce is still a BMW and one hell of a one-car garage baby, perfect for your old age car choice

Lol, may be a challenge to get one of those into our basement, let alone our double garage. It would be cool though.

But fitting it in won’t be your problem though, the ‘man’ you call and who magically appears to drive you around in said Rolls Royce has to take care of garaging, right? And cleaning, and servicing….😜

Slightly more sensibly/constructively of me, what about M2CS and M135xdrive? Sports car plus compact car combo. And easier to fit in garage.
Seriously considered it myself but we need a big car small car combo, not effectively 2 small cars..

Currently have the CS and an A45S, will likely get a P car and a polo GTi or the like, theory at this stage.

Lol at the RR comments though.

A shame to see you exit so soon, John. No doubt, priorities change, so all the best with the next set of wheels.

Given your previous tastes, I'm sure they will. Another vote for a RR by the way

To all my Aussie (and other) compatriots, sorry to go off the reservation here but I need some advice not related to M2CS

I'm looking at a 1972 BMW 2002 tomorrow. I'm told it's still in original shape, no accidents (though it's been repainted).

Matching ORIGINAL gearbox, engine and chassis

full service history and only 2 owners both from Melbourne (car was an Australian delivery)

floor carpets have been replaced, seats reupholstered, and the car resprayed. Other than that, it's in excellent condition (all claims are verifiable I'm told).

Second owner bought the car in 2017

The sticking point is the price; they're asking for almost 50-large

I'd like to know what would be a fair price to offer because for that much dough, I'd be buying something virginal I would have thought

Any and all feedback is most appreciated

MadRad, that’s sounds excellent. What colour is it, that may also effect the $, and the respray is it to the original colour?

Can you send the full details as I’m reasonably knowledgeable on the 2002 and E21 320i .
I still have my dads BMW E21 . They use the same M10 engine and if they are looked after are bullet proof . The crankshaft is forged and was designed to take 1500-1600 bhp in the old days of f2 & f3 with a modified dohc 4 valve BMW M motorsport head !

Cheers
Bruce

That's great mate; much obliged.

I've seen a few of these and you should be able to get a good specimen for $30-$35k buuuuut for $48k it's a tall ask.

I'll see it in the morning and take some photos to share with you

Thanks for your kind offer

BTW, truth be told, after the 2002, I'd probably be looking at getting an E9 next but they're a good $40k more right now (if you can find a decent one that is). There just weren't that many of them imported into Australia to begin with

Great points, yes, it's sprayed the same colour code as the original (red)

ideally, I wouldn't look at a red car. But, how often do you find a 50-yo car with full service history and only two owners? I guess the red colour is a small compromise if all they tell me about the car turns out to be true

I'll take, and share with you, some photos tomorrow

OK, I'm officially in love

The car is just stunning. Can't drive it for a month or so until the diff is done.

Here are some photos for your comments

The paint finish is unbelievable for a closed-door respray. Found a couple of stone chips but that's it.

Ceramic coating and a set of wheels should do the job perfectly

Enjoy

(more photos to come)

Edit 1: Done photos are rotated for dinner reason

Edit 2: the car next to it under car cover is a Batmobile - it will never ever ever ever be sold, he told me
