Well, the M235i Racing is for track duty only and cannot be registered for road use, am I right? So then it would make sense, but as you say, the M2 is probably going to be kind of limited and making another version of it will cost a lot of $$$. And you know the reason why BMW does not have any supercar in the lineup. They're doing the M4 GTS/CSL and I think that's enough hardcore stuff for 21st Century BMW whether we like it or not. However, if BMW decides to make a very limited, special variant of an M car, it will be the M3/4. Like the 67 CRT's.

The idea behind the M235i racing is to go club racing in a spec type car. It wasn't really intended as the ultimate expression of the 2-series. Instrad it was design to be a capable, reliable, and relatively cost effective race car.

i love my AW with dark accents.. i'm a big fan of light colored body and dark accents(wheels, etc) so the black and gray are out unless the gray were MUCH lighter (DG would be sweet). LBB would be another consideration although so many m235is running around in blue makes it a little less appealing.
just need to find out when the darn thing is coming out so i can see if i'll have time to order one!

We need some new spy shots... I check the forum few times everyday and can't wait.
Regarding colors, I would most likely go for black. I think it would fit the "dark" soul of the car nicely |

Really struggling with my new color selection (was firmly in the Donington Grey camp before).
The color progression of my previous cars: white->white->dark-silver->light-silver->dark-silver->black I've had my share of dark silver recently. My fear with black is that it might hide some of the aggressive styling of the M2 (comments appreciated). Then as you can tell I'm generally color averse, though I'm trying to seriously consider LBB. Hmm. Perhaps a return to white?

IMO, a lot more should be revealed before the mid September IAA. As you know, production starts a mere 6 weeks later. Here's my revelation guess: BMW is, today, directing the excitement towards the introduction of the M4 GTS (seems premature given GTS production start is 10 months away). Once they sense the excitement on that car has petered out (in a week or two), they'll direct attention to the M2, disclosing bits and pieces of the cars makeup. Perhaps I'm missing something, but, BMW seems to be very cautious about revealing the M2. An explanation may be that the car has the potential of drawing customers away from their other models. So, timing the introduction, they feel, is necessary to prevent that from happening. |

BMW and 4 colors only.
About the M4 GTS that will be presented on August 16, 2015 at Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance 2015 (California): the product version will get four frozen paint finishes. And how are things in CSL Land ? Two are in the works for release next year (concept versions): M4 CSL and ...M2 CSL. M4 CSL will be the first ///M with eDrive. And in the meantime about the M2 base version, silence continues to cover the skies. The room is packed and the audience is eagerly waiting for the show to start.

But, you're throwing in a bit of confusion by bringing up this "concept version" thing. For your crystal ball: On the M2 CSL, M2 production goes for eight months and ends June '16. Will the M2 CSL be produced in that window? Or are they going to wait for a different production cycle starting later in the 2016? A 2017 car? To me it doesn't make sense to produce a car for the 2016 100 year party and have it show up a year later. Talk about being late to the party! |

the shorter production cycle is for the first year only - we expect/hope to see LCI updates in the MY 2017 M2 along with the rest of the 2ers.
