Excellent Post! When you hit the Ring, do you have race insurance to cover you? Or will your normal insurance cover an accident?

Had a nice 100km scenic drive on back roads close to my home with the wife and kids enjoying some autumn sunshine in Belgium...
Last change to enjoy with upcoming new lock down due to Covid-19...

Got some during the ride...

Is it by day? Just curious, how much is it - generally? Haha

It's actually a normal policy from Alianz, but it does not have the exceptions for coverage at track days and tourist drives normal policies do. It's about 400 euro more per year than a policy which excludes those events. So it's not so bad to be honest.

But a day on the ring with a private club cost about 850 Euro, so that is the main cost factor. It's nice to have under a 150 cars, and no bikes, no delivery vans or clueless drivers. That's the main advantage.

Technically yesterday, made some tools for mod work today. Offset strut nut tool and Wiper Arm puller. Forgot to get a pic of the puller in action but I was amazed at how much effort it took to remove the arm from the spindle!

The track day is only 850 euro or the insurance is 850 euro? haha pricey track day - but the top tier track days at world-class tracks (like Laguna Seca) are about that much here in the US

Ah I see. I'm used to track days at Gingerman and Grattan raceways in Michigan (GO BLUE), or Mid-Ohio in the worst state ever. They cost about $350 per day.

Track day on the ring is about 850 Euro, and insurance for any number of track days within a year is covered by normal street insurance. And costs about 400 Euro more per year (regardless of how often you do track days or tourist drives) than normal street insurance, which specifically excludes track days. In my case insurance for the year (including track days) is 1800 Euro.

Hope that makes it a bit clearer.

Would love to do Laguna one day. Bucket list item for me, but also a very long drive from Michigan.

I like having the Remus logo in plain view which is why I have the tips sticking out a bit more than what might be considered 'normal'. Keeps the "what kind of exhaust is that?" questions to a minimum

To remove the upper strut bolt, you could of used a 16MM 12 point open socket and an Allen Key to lock in the shaft from spinning.

KW DDC suspension; top nut is 22mm and shaft is 10mm.

I'm doing all the bolt on stuff to include the Carbon Fiber Strut Brace. I should have had the top hats replaced when I had the suspension installed so bad planning then means more work now but like most of us, I enjoy messing with the car. Plus we're pretty much in lock down here so I'm doing it all now.

Ohh, my bad; I spoke out of turn; I wasn't aware the bolt size was different for your KW DDC project.. Thanks for clarifying this..

What I found the most challenging was preventing strut shaft from spinning, while removing the bolt that held the top mount in place.

I added OEM carbon fiber goodness. She's now lowered on OEM M Performance coilovers, and handles the Nurburgring much better. Most recently, I installed the blacked out kidney grills and carbon fiber fender "vents."

Love this car! Can't wait to drive it in California in a few months!

Started installing the Carbon Fiber Strut Brace but maybe ran into a problem. Posted this question the the "BMW M3/M4 F8X Carbon Fiber Strut Mod on the BMW M2" thread but it's been a couple of days so I thought I'd repost it here.

After putting the alloy brace into position, I installed all the bolts, everything lined up perfectly however, the brace is sitting about 6 mm off the mounting point/holes for the two bolts at the bulkhead/firewall under the center of the windshield. The alloy brace is resting flat on the hard plastic piece that covers the foam over the back of the engine. In the pics below, the bolts are just finger tight; I'm sure torqueing the bolts down will pull the brace down but that is going to put a lot of pressure on the plastic part underneath.

Everything else is perfectly in position so I'm just wondering if everyone installing this brace starts out with this 5~6 mm gap?

If by "package" you mean someone put it together as a unit the answer is no, or yes if you mean me lol, it's all individual pieces ordered individually:

Wagner EVO 1 Competition
Evolution Racewerks Charge Pipe
Turbo Smart Plum Back DV
Pure Turbos Inlet Pipe
Forge turbo to intercooler Hose

I'm hoping it all gels together; everything is installed but I've not run it yet as I'm installing the carbon fiber strut brace and I seem to be having a problem or not, I don't know (see post # 6727 just above) so I'm hoping someone who does will weight in. I know Nezil has install four or five now but he doesn't seem to be around much at the minute

Yeah, sorry, translation "when I get my intercooler, what else do I need to get with it."

Thanks for the awesome list.

Make sure to let us know how it works out, as I'll be doing this next year as well. I'm assuming this will work great for just a base Stage 2 93 octane car, as that's all I'm doing to it. I've heard good things about the Wagner.

I think it will certainly work for a Stage 1 and I'll see about Stage 2 but Stage 2 might require a downpipe and with a Remus exhaust the car is loud enough as it is.

I already have a Fabspeed sport cat, so I'm good there. I don't think any of the stages need exhaust after the cat, the stock system is good for big power.
