That looks great. I'm between these and the 763m wheels but leaning towards the TS5. Especially since I'd rather get the PS4 instead of the Cup2 so the standard wheel/tire set offered by BMW doesn't work.

It's a Bridgestone Potenza of some sort. I'm betting it's an S04 Pole Position.
EDIT: Weird that I'm not showing a 265/30/19 available in the S04 PP though. Last edited by VisualEcho; 11-30-2020 at 07:13 PM.. |

Get the T-S5 since while weight is similar to the 763M or might even be teeny tiny bit lighter, they are wider at 9.5/10.5 vs 9/10 of the 763M. That means you can shove wider tyres like 265/295 30 19 PS4S that will allow you to out-brake and out-corner one on 763M running on a smaller set or on the same size tyres.

Just found that those sizes are rare in the S007. But New Zealand has them. Damn.

True, but it doesn't match the front. Should be 265/30 & 285/30, or 275/30 & 295/30. And even if the 275/30 was available, it would really be too big. And besides, to get the correct fitment, now you're needing 19 x 10 & 19 x 11. This is why everyone, wanting the best tire out there, chooses the 255/35 & 275/35 PS4S. But not me, it'll be 265/30 & 285/30 Firehawk Indy all the way.

I used to run a front 265/30 on a 9 inch rim and that steered fine. The grip is really worth it. If you are on stock rims I'll say the S007A in 265/295 30 19 should be a good setup for some spirited backroad indulgent. The issue with fitting bigger tyres on the F87 M2 is the limited footprint for wider wheels. For ease of installation a 9.5/10.5 is plain hassle free. I would love to run a 10" front and a 11" rear in 19 (due to the M BBK) but unlike an M3/M4, that setup requires precise offset front and rear, substantial fender modifications together with aggressive cambering and the maximum rear tyres one can fit without rubbing is still only 305. That's lots of pain and not much gain, not worth it for a daily in my book. |

It's not so much about the rear, it's about the relationship between the front and rear, and what you're doing with a 265/295 is adding quite a bit of understeer, and also changing the balance of the car. Being a track rat I figured you'd know this by heart.

I guess you mean tread width ratio front and rear...not the section width. Though when driving hard, weight transfer induces dynamic variation on the axle load left and right, front and rear so tyre contact patch ratios (L&R, F&R) change all the time anyway. Tyre compounds will also make a difference. BMW's 20mm staggered was tuned for the Michelin PSS Star spec. My coming set of tyres is AD08R on 265/295 and so I will report back if there is any material difference on understeering with the 30mm staggered on the Yoko.

That's a great tire, but 265/30 are the OEM front tires on the Ferrari LaFerrari and the 285/30 are the OEM rear tires on the Giulia Quadrifoglio, not sure about the mix.

It's what Dinan uses as well. And IMO, they have the perfect set-up.
