The M3 doesn't fit that desire for you?
Some of us don't desire a 5 series sized M3 and would prefer an E36 sized 4 door, thank you very much. Perhaps you must work at BMW because they've forgotten the compact 4 DR sedan also.

Absolutely I am, because I would like a higher revving motor than the N54 and N55.

I'm Still hoping for a hotted up 4 cylinder with a CF body and would love to see it come with an S20 4 cylinder twin turbo and meth injection.

It will be perfect to match up with the Cayman GT4S.... (.Yes that's a fictional model but the way they keep changing the top model every two years ( Cayman R, Cayman GTS.. Cayman GT4 ... I predict the next will be a 4 cylinder twin turbo probably in its next iteration)

Most buyers these days don't even know BMW makes excellent 4 cylinder motors and a CSL with the same power in a lighter chassis and a higher revving 4 cylinder would be awesome.
excellent? have you driven a 228 or 328? both of those cars are saturated in boredom....and their engines are far from exciting or interesting by any means.

in fact a 15 year old Audi or VW 1.8T feels much more exciting than the current BMW 4 bangers.....and that's pretty sad.
Are you seriously comparing an M motor to a 228 or 328 motor ?

My two cents....if you're gonna go black, you have to go all out black! Gloss black wheels, gloss black trim pieces, maybe some carbon fiber bits too.

Then it'll look menacing.

is this your imaginary M motor you're talking about?? There is no current production M car with a 4 banger......so have no idea what you are talking about. The only 4 bangers BMW makes for this market are in their non-M cars and they pretty much suck.

I'm not really sure there would be any benefit from a higher revving turbo 4 cylinder. Mid-range torque is what BMW is after with their turbocharged engines.

And all these CSL dreams... Haha.

Just last week I heard an F31 320i starting up next to me. Dude, it sounded like a diesel. Awful.

Grey is the safe black. Same effect in the dark, less maintenance.

IMO this m car looks the best in MG or in Black.

The Long Beach Blue looks like Candy.

Alpine White: track car

The fenders don't stand out as much in black from the side.

Candy, of course you are.....

Quote from witch movie?

Anyway, I`ve had two black cars (E92 M3 and E82 1M) and I`m done with black, the white is just plain white and the grey is just plain grey (Donnington grey would have done it for me, but it ann`t possible) I` ve had also a TiAG E46 M3, witch I like very much. LBB as a very lively color, so it gives a lot of discussions.

It is all a matter of personal preference, you can`t go wrong with any offered color, but then again, LBB is best

Wish those Nurburgring ring time numbers were lower though. Read some where about them being around 7:52 or 7:58 which is not all that great.

It is 14s quicker than the 1M, that isn't bad in my book...
Most of the cars that are quicker have about 65-100 HP more than the M2.

I know people will say this isnt fair, but Id compare the time to the GT4 Cayman which has probably same or even less power in most conditions and a lot less torque. If that nordschleife lap is correct, then the M2 is atleast 10 seconds slower than the GT4. Make what you want of that.

Nurburgring lap times are totally useless....it's for fat asses who sit around bragging about heir cars' ring lap times while waiting to sit in an Arby's drive thru waiting for their Beef N Cheddar sandwich.

Although I absolutely agree that 'Ring times aren't the be all and end all (and they are sometimes hard to compare given varying conditions) but they absolutely do speak to a car's overall performance... suspension, braking, power, etc. 'Ring times are far from useless... notwithstanding they take on too much importance for some people IMO.

A car that is 10s faster at the 'Ring is simply a better performing car. Does it mean it's a "better" car? No because "better" is subjective but it is a very good indication that it is a better performing car and more capable. Around town when you are picking up groceries, it is largely irrelevant but, then again, so is owning a car like a 1M, M2, Cayman, etc, etc, etc. if that's how someone uses it They only way to truly appreciate the capability of cars like these are at the track.

P.S. I bet if the 1M was faster the 'Ring times wouldn't be so "useless" would they

And the M2 is about half the price of a GT4... And a backseat. Compare that to the upcoming CSL instead.

You only say that because the M2 went around the track so much faster than the 1M.

See, I would agree if the difference would be around 3 seconds. But its not. It at least gives some knowledge of how the car will perform. How the engine, suspension and gearbox all work together. And we all know, a car that is thoroughly tested on the ring is a car that is fun to drive!

It is 7:58 - which is pretty good. The 981CS on 20' tires was 7:54 I believe - so not bad at all.

Lol...dude you and your 1M. Do you have a shrine to it in your place? :roll eyes:

I'm not fat either - but the point of using the Ring times for comparison is that it gives you an overall idea of how the car CAN perform - aka, a nice unit of measure of the upper limits. That's a good metric to have, especially when you are looking at cars and deciding how close they are.

PS - the 981CS is some 15 or more seconds faster than your beloved 1M...and the M2 is in that range too. Start counting...lol

the 1M does deserve a shrine!! i just can't be arsed to build one for a material object. Don't care much about the Cayman.....great car...not for me...

as for nurburgring lap times.....have fun counting while you sit at an Arby's drive thru........yeah you're accomplishing A LOT.

I personally don't give a crap if my car laps the Nurburgring in 7 minutes or 10 minutes. All i care about is how fun it is to drive....i don't need some lap time to tell me what i should feel. I have a mind of my own.

WORTHLESS!!! Pointless!!! oooooo 15 seconds faster? ooooo 39 seconds slower....faster in the straights *faints with shock*. Nobody really cares.

To me the M2 is a MUCH more interesting car than a Cayman S....i don't need a 'Ring lap time to convince me of anything.

Fun isn't objective. It is very subjective. That's the point. However, times on a world-famous road course where manufacturers just happen to test cars is an objective manner by which to compare similarly specced vehicles. You do understand the difference, yes?

And the M2 and 981 won't just be faster in the straights - it will be in the corners too...which are....wait for it...fun.

I love the 1M but I really can't look at them the same way because of you. That's not a compliment.

1addicts is calling your name...take a picture of your 1M tailpipes and some Vasoline with you...perhaps you will stop crying about not getting a 1M forum and leave everyone else in peace.
