is this your imaginary M motor you're talking about?? There is no current production M car with a 4 banger......so have no idea what you are talking about. The only 4 bangers BMW makes for this market are in their non-M cars and they pretty much suck.

And all these CSL dreams... Haha. Just last week I heard an F31 320i starting up next to me. Dude, it sounded like a diesel. Awful. Last edited by swagon; 01-10-2016 at 03:41 AM.. |

IMO this m car looks the best in MG or in Black. The Long Beach Blue looks like Candy. Alpine White: track car |

Candy, of course you are..... Quote from witch movie? Anyway, I`ve had two black cars (E92 M3 and E82 1M) and I`m done with black, the white is just plain white and the grey is just plain grey (Donnington grey would have done it for me, but it ann`t possible) I` ve had also a TiAG E46 M3, witch I like very much. LBB as a very lively color, so it gives a lot of discussions. It is all a matter of personal preference, you can`t go wrong with any offered color, but then again, LBB is best |

Most of the cars that are quicker have about 65-100 HP more than the M2. |

I know people will say this isnt fair, but Id compare the time to the GT4 Cayman which has probably same or even less power in most conditions and a lot less torque. If that nordschleife lap is correct, then the M2 is atleast 10 seconds slower than the GT4. Make what you want of that.

A car that is 10s faster at the 'Ring is simply a better performing car. Does it mean it's a "better" car? No because "better" is subjective but it is a very good indication that it is a better performing car and more capable. Around town when you are picking up groceries, it is largely irrelevant but, then again, so is owning a car like a 1M, M2, Cayman, etc, etc, etc. if that's how someone uses it They only way to truly appreciate the capability of cars like these are at the track. P.S. I bet if the 1M was faster the 'Ring times wouldn't be so "useless" would they

See, I would agree if the difference would be around 3 seconds. But its not. It at least gives some knowledge of how the car will perform. How the engine, suspension and gearbox all work together. And we all know, a car that is thoroughly tested on the ring is a car that is fun to drive!

It is 7:58 - which is pretty good. The 981CS on 20' tires was 7:54 I believe - so not bad at all.

I'm not fat either - but the point of using the Ring times for comparison is that it gives you an overall idea of how the car CAN perform - aka, a nice unit of measure of the upper limits. That's a good metric to have, especially when you are looking at cars and deciding how close they are. PS - the 981CS is some 15 or more seconds faster than your beloved 1M...and the M2 is in that range too. Start counting...lol

as for nurburgring lap times.....have fun counting while you sit at an Arby's drive thru........yeah you're accomplishing A LOT. I personally don't give a crap if my car laps the Nurburgring in 7 minutes or 10 minutes. All i care about is how fun it is to drive....i don't need some lap time to tell me what i should feel. I have a mind of my own. WORTHLESS!!! Pointless!!! oooooo 15 seconds faster? ooooo 39 seconds slower....faster in the straights *faints with shock*. Nobody really cares. To me the M2 is a MUCH more interesting car than a Cayman S....i don't need a 'Ring lap time to convince me of anything. |

And the M2 and 981 won't just be faster in the straights - it will be in the corners too...which are....wait for it...fun. I love the 1M but I really can't look at them the same way because of you. That's not a compliment. 1addicts is calling your name...take a picture of your 1M tailpipes and some Vasoline with you...perhaps you will stop crying about not getting a 1M forum and leave everyone else in peace.
