Looking for a good shop to work on my M2C in the Denver area....

Any suggestions?

There's BimmerHaus, but they're a fair bit north from me.

Mostly looking to install: AutoSolutions SSK, remove/replace CDV w/ e90 version, SS brake lines, remove/replace heat exchanger, crank bolt capture kit & M3/M4 intake parts, and remove/replace the DME for a Carbahn tune.

TIA--

R.

Check paddock imports they are in Denver and I hear good things. I might go to them for a Noelle tuning upgrade

Before you go the Noelle route, it might be a good idea to read up on that tune here.

There's some..... sketchy stuff with them.

They were on my list initially, but after reading up on the thread here, I moved to the "Not only no, but hell no, and not even if it was for free."

I'll be doing the Carbahn tune after my 1200 mile break-in.

Anyhow, just a thought that you might want to do some deep research before you pull the trigger on that one.

Nice I will look into that, I am still on my break in also so I have time to research. I just wish we didn't have to bench flash it would be a much easier choice for me and just go the bm3 route. I will also look up the carbahn one as well.

I went with all Dinan and had Schomp do the work. It’s hard to believe that I ordered it 3 years ago

Thanks.

I've had..... issues with the Schomp dealership, so they're not my first choice.

Issue 1. was when the M2 LCI came out. I was out for a ride, so I stopped by to take a look as I'd recently seen it at the Seattle International Auto Show.

I rode up on my V-Rod and asked to sit in an M2, as I have an unusually tall torso and I was interested to see if I would fit.

They made it VERY clear that I couldn't afford the car, and that I was wasting their time. And, when I asked about the possibility of a test drive, their answer was that I had to put down a $5000 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit.

Needless to say, I was pretty shocked by their attitude.

Strike 1.

Issue 2. Fast forward to last winter. I was on the hunt for a M2C, and I gave Schomp another chance. The SA was..... not impressive. I told him that I wanted a very specific build and that it would most likely be an allocation order. He sent me a bare-bones email about a M2C they had on the lot, which wasn't even close to what I wanted. His entire attitude was that I should be grateful that he even responded.

Strike 2.

Eventually, on a day I was home, I went over and met face to face. He was super apologetic, and set me up with a test drive with one of their Genius types (who was great.)

I decided I wanted the car, but was researching pricing/financing/trying to decide if I wanted to do ED, etc., so I told them I'd be in touch as I was going up to Seattle for Christmas.

I emailed the SA to his official email address several times regarding pricing in the two weeks before Christmas.... crickets. I left several voice mails..... crickets. FINALLY, the SA sent me an email asking me if I was still interested. I replied *literally* within five minutes..... you guessed it-- crickets. I tried emailing him a final time and left a voice mail a final time..... again, no response.

Strike 3.

I gave up on them completely and went with Denver Downtown-- and I couldn't have been happier with how they treated me.

So, Schomp lost my business, and any future business I might have (even though they're the most convenient dealer to me) . If you treat me like this before I hand you a check for Sixty Large, how are you going to treat me once you get my money?

As a final note-- I got another email from the SA a month or two later, asking AGAIN if I was still interested. I replied that I had and allocation on order with Denver Downtown and never heard from them again.

Pretty piss-poor way to run a car selling business, imho.

Sorry to hear that, over the 7 years that I have been in the area I have had 4 BMW’s that I have either bought or had serviced at Schomp, my M2 was ED, so it took all of the work out of it. Depending on who you get, you can have a great experience or a crappy one. Best of I have a great service advisor that takes great care of me. I did blow my first Dinan turbo, it took a month for them to replace it. I had a brand new X3 for the entire time.

@flybigjet Sent you a pm a couple weeks ago re. the Dinan v Carbahn question. I've been really happy with Paddock Imports. Brought my 435 there before the M2. They're car guys through and through from my experience ( though a little 'sales-y' with the Noelle stuff).

I second the Schomp garbage—I drove down to the Springs and went to Winslow instead.

DEFINITELY not going anywhere near Noelle-- especially as I saw the dyno of their last "tune". I don't think I'd be much for a shop that's "sales-y" for them. Just a personal decision.

It's looking like I'm going to have a lot of time off soon (I'll know after the 14th), so I'm considering actually driving from Denver out to NorCal and having Carbahn flash the motor and maybe do a few other things while I'm out there.

My wife's 50th birthday is coming up and we're having a big get-together with friends for a "long weekend" near Napa, so driving out there would be kind of a fun road trip.

After that, I could drive up to WA to see my father and sister, and then eventually mosey back to Denver.

Just in the "hmmmmm" stages at the moment. It would end up being about 4000 miles, so that would be kind of a fun thing to do with the car after it's broken in.

Sounds like a blast—you should totally go for it. We were planning on a Vegas / Palm Springs road trip that got canceled due to COVID-19. Have to be satisfied with a couple runs to the mountains and up the foothill canyons.

Dear OP,
I highly recommend SCR Performance in Loveland. They have done ALL work to my LCI M2 over the past 3 years including Stage 2 Active Autowerke tune, full exhaust, Ohlins R&T installation, intercooler and charge pipe. They do all my wheel and tire fitments. They have gone above and beyond for me and are true M specialists (even though they work on plenty of other makes and models. I know Loveland is a little far if you are looking in Denver... I was too as I also live in Denver. But when looking in Denver I just didn't trust any of the shops. So, worth the drive for me, might be for you too.
Cheers

OP,

I'm curious to know who you ended up finding for the DME unlock and how much it ran. I'd really like to have mine unlocked so I can buy and use Bootmod3. I'm in Colorado Springs.

I ended up driving from Denver to San Jose (and then back via Seattle) to have Carbahn do the tune (and some other work).

Also, to tie up this thread, I really really REALLY recommend Bimmerhaus in Broomfield. They did my SSK and a few other things and I couldn't be more pleased with their service. They *really* know BMW's, as that's all they do.
