Agreed they are bound to.
I've actually seen an M235i racing somewhere online that had side skirts fitted and it was so much more finished. I'll try and find the pics |

Don't know about the styling, but the size of the discs on the brakes are looking good. Not sure if the wheels are 18 or 19 inches, but the discs are certainly filling them nicely.

It could be my eyes playing tricks through the camo but looking again at the Red/orange car in Spain could the front wings already be tapered into the skirts?
You can see the visible line clearly at the back below the quarter panel but the front now seems to fit nicely? |

Another thing to keep in mind is that BMW regularly place additional panels underneath the camo in order to obscure the actual body shape. That overhang in the back is definitely characteristic of the M235i Racing though. Maybe they're making incremental changes.

The US-spec M235 is heavier because of more standard equipment. I think the EU kerb weight is right in the 135's zone if you will. Getting down to 3200 pounds is a fantasy, at least in my opinion. But we can hope.

The M235 already looks "dumpy" or "cheap" as some journalists have said with the stock 18's (I agree, I like the wheel design on my car, but they're too little). I hope it comes with two 19' choices - similar to the M3/4. Silver 10 spokes as the standard and the black as an upgrade. But we will probably have to pay for 19's. I agree on the powerdome - I really think it is a trick of the light in that shot...

Car looks great in red though.

Why even buy the F80/2 when this is coming... I'd rather wait for this then compare with the g-series M4 especially if they go back to the V8
And then swap an S55 in if the T0 N55 doesn't met your needs |

Why M3/4 over M2: - S55 > N55. Really has to be driven to appreciate it. - Weight. I'm getting more and more convinced that there will NOT be a huge weight reduction vs M235i. What the M2 will have going for it will be its size and price vs M3/4. Right now, I'm still leaning towards stripper-ish M3 (but I do have a small E36 for what it's worth, maybe that's why the M2 is losing my interest a little).

N55 pushing 365-375 hp...aka PPK II or PPK plus
I'm not that enthused. I do like the N55/ppk in my 435 but, for a true M car I'm not sure this will suffice, that is unless the curb weight comes in at <3300 which the general consensus says ain't happening.

The problem is that 370 BHP in a M235-ish body that has wider tires, better brakes, better suspension AND 200 pounds less (aka 250 pound less than an M3/4) is going to be a handling maniac. Given BMW's positioning of higher series cars as "better" in performance terms....well I just am not convinced it will happen. I hope I am wrong - but with the quoted power out there, I don't see them making it significantly lighter. I would have neem happier if the weight went down and the power was right around the 1M. Then you could have significantly different "styles" between the M2 and M3/4.... We shall see...

I don't understand why it won't be released until late 2015-early 2016. It is essentially a homolgomation between an M235i and a M3/4. This thing should debut in January and be out by the summer.
Unless they're worried it will steal M4 sales... Ahh just found my answer..
