N55 Fabspeed Sports Cat without tune

This is a question that has been raised in the past, but without definitive answer.

Some time has now passed and I wonder if anyone has had any long-term experience with the Fabspeed Sport Cat (200 CEL) without tuning on a OEM N55 M2

1. Does the engine run lean?
2. Is there any boost creep?
3. Has it caused any mechanical issues whatsoever?
4. Has it thrown a CEL?

I’m very happy with the factory map, and I don’t want to tune it. I’d like to keep the car as OEM as possible and I’m installing the sport cat for sound only. I will be adding a charge pipe.

Fabspeed have told me that it will be fine without tuning. Whereas my mechanic has told me that the car ‘won’t run right’ without a tune.

I plan on keeping this car, so long-term reliability is important.

Would appreciate any advice.

1. no

4. no

Mine's catless now after running 3 years of fabspeed 200cel + MPE
Be aware the drone is worse than stock dp from 2700-3200rpm, with MPE.
I have no experience of running full stock exhaust with Fabspeed dp. I assume it's better since MPE doesn't have resonator.

Thanks, that helps a lot.

I think you’re right. The standard exhaust and resonator should mitigate the drone in my case. I can also disable the ASD if necessary.

I just need to make sure that it’s mechanically safe, which it seems to have been in your experience.

Thanks!

It's perfectly safe, the DME is very advanced and can easily compensate for the change.

JGC, Original owner of an 2017 OG M2 and I put a Fabspeed sportscat on mine after 9 months of ownership. I also changed my chargepipe approximately 3 years after ownership, just as a preventative measure.

My car is stock other than what’s listed above. No CEL or issues at all and I love the sound, so do many others as I’ve received numerous compliments on it. Not too loud on and no drone, perfect if you ask me. At start up, it’s quite loud but mellows after 45 seconds.

I do have the fake exhaust coded out, and just roll down my windows on drives where I want to be one with the car. Definitely money well spent.
