Pre lci m2 highest price you'd pay

Currently a pre lci m2 in the condition I want (under 30k miles, clean car fax with service records and no mods) is around 39k on the low end and 44 on the high end obviously a few outliers. My question is what would you be willing to spend on one of these cars, because anything over 39k seems high to me

KBB says private party value is $36,800 for a 2017 M2. Remember asking prices are negotiable.

I think the $39k to $44k range is dealer prices?

Just my observation/preference, and it really depends on the condition and mileage of that specific specimen.
A mint one with some modest mods (no tunes) with under 20k miles can easily be around $40k.
A higher mileage one with a tune and too many mods will be on the low end for me, around $35k.

FWIW, something like CarGurus can be interesting. Price history. How many days on the market. Often (or always?) links to a Carfax report. Or never. I can't recall.

There's a car in NJ with high miles for $37K. 166 days on the market (I know, who in NY would buy a car from anyone in NJ ;-) ). OK. It has been repaired (minor). And it has been drive a LOT including to or through the rust belt.

A one-owner car purchased new in Quebec has been listed for $44K with 6,000 miles and no problems reported. Illinois. 83 days. $47K to $44K.

I am guessing the latter car might be had for closer to $42K. Maybe it's a garage queen, but I get nervous dropping coin on used cars where salt is used in the winter.

Good luck!

I've actually inquired about that nj and the dealer is awful! Over 4 grand in random dealer fees that why it's 37k definitely don't want one that's spent it's life up north

Are you specifically looking for Pre LCI due to preference or price? What part of NY are you in? I'm in CT and just finished my search and bought a month ago. As you'd expect may of the cars I was looking at are still available and I'd be happy to share experiences and such just shoot me a PM.

I'm looking for a pre lci mainly because of the price difference like you said and because I don't think the lci has enough upgrades to justify the price jump. I'm located in upstate ny near Albany, looking for a Long Beach blue car ( seem to be the most sought after) with a dct, would get a manual if the right deal presented itself. Very curious as to how your search/buy went and where you ended up getting the car (northeast/ southwest etc)

My old 17 M2 is still at my dealer. 8900 miles new rear tires and no wheel rash. Certified. The clear bra is showing its age but the car never saw rain or snow until traded in. It's up at Kelly BMW. PM me for more info.

I did all the normal searches, within 500 miles of me but ended up finding the best two cars within 20 miles of my house at dealers. There were two others at off brand dealers that seemed very good but I didn't go to look at them. I ended getting an email alert from CarGurus that a local dealer had an M2 newly listed. The car had no pictures or info short of mileage and price, even the transmssion was incorrect. It was literally the morning after someone traded it in and I figured since it was so close I'd take a look. Ended up being LBB w/ DCT. Higher mileage than I was targeting but the price justified it and I planned on modding pretty quickly anyways.

I didn't come across many LBB ones in my search unfortunately, white seemed to come up frequently which was my other choice. One other note is that I've seen Vroom and Carvana occasionally have good ones come up but they sell quickly or even have a deposit when they are still incoming. So set alerts there if you can. Good luck in your search.

How do you know it didn't rain or snow on the car when it was in Germany waiting to come over or at the port or on transport truck?

A car is worth what you are willing to pay for it at the end of the day.

When I looked for my example, I was very specific on spec (manual, Icon LEDs, sunroof, HK etc. etc.) and none ticked the boxes, until finally one did.

It was around £2k more than I expected to pay for one, but being from main dealer and having the exact specification I was after, I was happy to do it.

No regrets

I'm from NY and just purchased the 2018 model this week. Prices vary quite a bit obviously from purchasing from private / dealership. I have not dealt with the private party during my search but the quotes that I've gotten from the BMW dealership on the 2017 CPO / preowned was around 42-45k. This is before any hard negotiations.

For CPO vehicles they are running a very low apr promotion right now, 0.9% for 36months and 1.49% for 60months. Pretty nice if you are looking to finance.

Happy my spec is a little more generic lol all I really need is lbb, dct, and m performance exhaust would be a nice bonus. Glad you found your perfect spec! I know I'll have zero regrets either once I'm behind the wheel
