Bmw m2 2018 lci dct

Hi All,

Is a BMW M2 2018 LCI DCT appropriate to drive as your daily vehicle? I travel around 250 miles business miles per week. What is everyone's realistic MPG?

Yeah, totally biased here.

I think my 2018 makes a great daily driver, except it's been turned into a weekend car due to the pandemic. Ordinarily I'd be doing about 150 miles per week, mostly highway. I get low 20s mpg driving a 6MT, and she is great for highway commuting, very comfortable drive.

I guess maybe two things to consider that could be a turnoff if driving that much per week...

1) in cabin noise is pretty loud compared to most vehicles I've driven. Solutions to reduce noise are on this forum

2) stiff suspension has been too much for some folks. Definitely take a long test drive on varying roads to get a feel.

Good luck to you!

No complaints here. Average 21 mpg. I have a 61 mile round trip commute. Mostly highway...

My heavily modified M2 is my daily, no idea what the mpg is & couldn't care less. If I was worried about such things I'd have bought a Prius.

MPG depends on what roads you use and how you use it. Sat on a motorway at 70 you can get 32-36 easy. B roads its too much fun to drive slow so expect in the 20's. As a car to drive every day they're great, all the toys you need and comfortable enough.

As a daily proposition it's quite full on to live with; stiff, loud and visceral if that is your thing. For spirited driving and on track there is nothing like it, it's simply awesome. As someone mentioned above take it for a very long test drive on various types of roads and in stop/start traffic then decide for yourself. Last thing you want to do is buy the car then in 6 months time decide that you need something more comfortable as a DD.

I daily my M2 in the summer months about the same amount of miles the OP stated.

Some thoughts:
I enjoy the M2 as daily because it's fun as hell to drive and my roads aren't too bad in my area.
If your right foot isn't too heavy, you'll return anywhere from 20-28 mpg depending on your commute.
If your roads are very bumpy it may get annoying as a daily.

Conclusion:
If you have nice roads and can live with mpg somewhere in the 20's, go for it!

I’m going to break from the pack and say that the M2 is an awful DD, in my experience. I would absolutely not recommend it if it’s going to be your only car.

The main thing is the suspension

If you are a lazy driver and are used to the cushy suspension on other cars, where you see some bumps on the road and you dont want to bother slowing down or lift your foot off the pedal, you will find it can be a bumpy drive, so for DD this may be too cumbersome,

But it's not been too much of an issue for me, but I can see where other ppl might not like that

Mind you I've had the MPerf suspension since the beginning on my LCI so i havent really felt this car with stock suspension

Other than that for DD this car cam have good mileage given you drive in comfort mode, if you daily in sport mode or above you will be filling up your tank more often

And there arent too many modern tech gizmos on this car, I never been had them prior to this car, but if you are used to them you may find the minimalistic interior/leather quality to be lacking

I find the ride on my '18 M2 to be quite compliant and comfortable. For perspective I live in the NE where we don't have the nicest or smoothest roads.

I split the miles 50/50 between it and my ND2 Miata, with the former being the grand tourer of the two. If ride comfort is your concern, go with 18" wheels. 19" wheels is an overkill for this car tbh.

I've tried all the modes and it doesn't make a difference in mpg, but I pick my own gears.

I daily drove my '18 m2 for almost 3 years. It was awesome! No idea what the mpg was like, I only ever drove in sport+ mode. Found the suspension perfectly fine, the clutch is light, and the car is small and nimble so easy to maneuver in traffic.

Pre-Covid my M2 was my wife's DD. She loves the car but my only complaint is the smallish fuel tank. Seems you have to fill up quite often, despite the mpg not being terrible.

I'm used to frequent gas station stops with my E92 M3 though, so it doesn't bother me enough to complain about it, however some might feel the need to stop often is bothersome.

I've driven my 2018 almost 57k miles thus far....ALWAYS in Sport Plus mode. Have enjoyed every single mile. As for MPG it will range from 20-25mpg depending on your driving style.

Enjoy!

I use my 2018 DCT as my DD. MPG is about 18, my commute is all surface streets and I like to drive it hard. Most people would see low 20's.

Why are some people so afraid to drive these cars. Why buy it in the first place.

I daily drove my 2018 DCT for two years and loved it. I lived on base and my daily commute was 4 miles each way, never exceeding 45mph. So my mpg was between 21-23. On highway trips from TN to GA,I averaged 27-28 mpg as long as I did not put my foot in it.
