Track pad wear
Hey guys.
I’m starting to get uneven wear on my track pads. My front right outer track pad was worn to the backing plate on the leading edge; trailing edge had 1/2” pad left. Now I have to trash them after just one track day bc of either a sticking piston or caliper flex? What do you guys think the cause and fix is for this? Thanks. |

That sounds like extreme uneven wear. I've never encountered something like that before.
Sounds to me like a sticking piston to me but I'm no expert. I'd start troubleshooting and try having someone sit in the car and very slowly step on the brakes with no pad in that caliper and observe to see if all of the pistons get pushed out uniformly. |

Agree sounds very extreme and something is definitely not right. The trouble with calipers not designed as motorsport calipers is that even if you use a motorsport pad the design and spec of things like the piston seals means that they do not last very long. So seals can fail from heat allowing dust and grit to begin penetrating.
