Condensation in the lights

So it's been raining all week and today while I was washing the car I noticed a little condensation in the tail lights. I also noticed that BMW placed a little hole in each taillight too.

This sounds like a defect. Could be leaky seals surrounding the lights.

One guy in this thread had his tail light replaced 5 times under warranty:

I had a car whose headlight started doing that when it was about five years old (not a BMW). After about a month the headlight went out. I'm sure bacause of the moisture. I ended up having to replace the entire headlight assembly.

Had this happen on my M235i about 2 years ago and the dealership replaced the tail light for me under warranty. It's commonly known that one of the most poorly designed areas of the 2 series are the tail lights and the trunk surround how they fill up with whatever junk falls onto your rear window and then stuff like this ends up happening. Also watch out for the actual housing to start showing hairline cracks along injection molding lines and stuff like that as it will happen eventually.

It's amazing that the same people that built this near perfect car fail on something that should be so simple... that's the Germans for you

Anyone else experiencing this on the front lights?
I'm thinking 100% this shouldn't be happening. Will aim to get them replaced at the run in service.

Much worse in the drivers side and very slight in the passenger side.

Is this from normal driving or have you been using the jet washer on it ...

Normal driving, it briefly rained when I was out, and I'm guessing under 5 mins of very light rain.
No heavy pressure washer use, only been washed twice and once by the detailer, and nothing for 4/5 weeks. I've not been able to drive it for a month but will keep an eye on it returning as using it a fair bit next weekend.

I have the rear light issues on my car as well. I'll have to run it by my SA next time I'm in there.

I had the headlight fogging issue in my E90 335 many years ago. Showed it to the dealer they said it will evaporate. Eventually it died. The adaptive motor stopped working.
Had to buy a new headlight because the dealer was jerk about it as I had a non bmw bulb in the high beam. They denied warranty.

That's completely normal. The headlights in these newer cars have breather holes so moisture is bound to get in but it always dries. Mine sometimes get foggy just like that after i wash the car and it goes away within a few min usually.

The tail lights shouldn't be getting any moisture in them. If you have some in there, it's a defective part and needs to be replaced under warranty. AFAIK it's only a Pre LCI issue seen in the MY16's.

I don't believe it's an issue, I can't remember where I read it, it normal, there is a valve in the light to let it breath

Not sure if it's a design flaw or a manufacturing defect but apparently it's quite common

So it's normal in the headlights? I'm getting condensation in my drivers side one but not the passenger one. It's been very wet here and the car lives outside. Save me a trip to the dealers if it's normal. It's an LCI car.

It's normal, but because your car lives outside it may not have the opportunity to dry/evaporate as quickly as it may for others. I guess it also depends on your weather, temperature and humidity. Give it some time and it should clear up on it's own.
