I have barely 3in clearance in the front with the lip....like 3in or less. Might pony up for coil overs to get better front to rear consistency

Finally got my personal plate!

It took California longer to make my plate then it took BMW to build the friggin car! I ordered the plate Feb. 20th, and it finally arrived at the DMV yesterday!

Haha, my dates were almost the same as yours. I don't have a photo yet but picked mine up today as well. Waited in line at the DMV for 4 and a half hours, and I got there 30 mins before opening!

Will post some photos tomorrow; like your plate choice though!

Yeah, I had to stand in line in the heat for two hours, to get a NUMBER... I was told to go grab lunch, as my number wouldn't come up for at least 90 minutes!

Returned after lunch to wait another hour!

Can't wait to see what plate you got! Be sure to post a photo!

Re-fitted my Fabspeed Sport Cat after returning it to have the bracket aligned correctly. Went on so much easier this time because I was able to have the bracket take the weight of the Cat while I aligned the turbo side flange and clamp.

Fitted my plates at the same time.

Made up a custom Mirror Tap and installed a Uniden R3 Radar Detector.

I'm not 100% happy with the placement. It's nice that it doesn't obstruct any view, but the sun visor hits it when you fold it down. I'm not sure of a better location though. Anyone else have some ideas?

Still to come... 97506 Plugs gapped to 0.50mm (0.020")

Nice work looks sweet!!! I just bought a Fabspeed sport cat DP and waiting to have it delivered. What was the issue with yours? Do I need to worry about it's fitment?

Close to the number I wanted, when you factor in the trade and the reduced taxes I will pay I actually got more than I expected.

There was an issue with the jig that caused a mis-alignment of the bracket on some of the Sport Cats a couple of months back. There is a thread about it on the 2er sub-forum, and another in the Engine Mods section of this forum. All of the units out in the wild should have been recalled and fixed, but it does depend on where you bought yours from.

If you bought direct from Fabspeed, then you should be fine. If you bought from a distributor that was carrying stock, then it's possible you might be affected, so I'd do some digging.

There isn't an easy way to know if you're affected or not until you try to line up the brackets under the car, by which time you'll have the factory cat removed and be 70% through the work.

One thing that is an easy give away is if your Sport Cat has a cast aluminium top flange and cone, then you might be affected. If yours has the machined top flange and stainless pipe top cone, then it's an earlier revision and definitely isn't affected.

Ok thanks for the info! Did you by any chance tighten bolts to spec torques or just by feel? If so, could you share those values? I've found a couple of sources on this forum but they're not the same values.

Sure but this is off topic from the thread. I'll post all of the torque values in the Downpipe thread over here: https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1372267

Fitted NGK 97506 plugs today; hoping to help with timing pull with my poor fuel.

Great mod and no hassle done it 4 minutes.

I bought the wrap on eBay for 4 bucks I believe
I will install later on and see the results if it doesn't work it's so easy to remove.

It's not real alcantara kind like a black suede, I hope this can create a better flow from my knob carbon and alcantara trim
Pretty creative . Share a pic with us once installed back in car!
As promised
