2019 BMW M2C  [0.00]
Went from a NoCP F80 to M2c. As others have said the biggest difference (IMO) is the suspension harshness on the M2c. If you're just street driving going with KW V3 or M perf susp will improve ride comfort and handling.

Only tech I really miss is the HUD, and it's worth the trade for the shorter wheelbase (fun) of the M2.

I had an M4 before my M2C,
The second one is much more fun to drive and more compliant in my opinion
The M2C SWB makes the car nimbler and easier in corners entry
My M4 had EDC and I never enjoyed the ride, it was never right the setting

M2 hands down and the interior is a lot better than people give it credit for. My M2 is like new even after 99k miles

I am shopping around for a used M4C or M2C, and I cannot seem to decide which one I want. Got a quick test drive in a M4 but cannot find a M2 near me at all.

This would be a 3rd vehicle for daily fun to and from work. Kind of bored with the truck but need to keep it around for hauling/towing and my wife has the SUV for hauling the kids around.

Decisions, decisions...

Do a test drive of the M2 before deciding. I test drove a M3C and M2 back to back and the answer was clear for me.

Thanks. I am trying to track one down. I think the M2 would be my preferred option from reading reviews, but I really need to get my a$$ in the seat. Not that the M4 was a slouch by any means!

Before buying the M235i I thought I wanted an M4 with leather dash and all luxury options until I test drove one.

It was loud, stiff and losing traction all the time. It made no sense to pay for all this luxury in a car this raw... in the M2 you feel like it's ment to be like that.

That sounds like a 2015 M4...

The newer ones have been re-tuned and have a much better suspension (in terms of the adjustable part becoming standard - at least here in the States).

The OG M2 just lacks compliance from a DD perspective - the M2C seems to have that fixed. So I would recommend (as I believe a new thread has been merged into this one) that people compare all three cars M2/M2C/M3&M4 and pick what is correct for them.

The only difference suspension wise between M2 and M2C is the front alum/carbon brace and the additional weight of the M2C.

But I agree between all M2's, at this point for someone who does not own an M2 I'd buy an M2C or CS unless the sound is really really important for you.

Yep, has been discussed over and over and for whatever reason, the M2C has a more compliant ride.

Well to me, the difference explain the more compliant ride. I installed the alum brace on my OG M2 and noticed on many car a better ride when installing heavier wheels/tires.

I've had both.

M4 was more comfortable imho. Mainly based on the fact that you have the adjustable suspension which doesn't exist in the M2C. Think of the M4 as a grand tourer with a stick (if you choose manual) and it makes more sense.

M2C is way more fun, easier to drift/slide, more controllable, better power delivery. The hype behind it is absolutely real. Subjectively, I think it also looks way better. It has a bulldog stance to it.

Any day of the week I'd take the M2C if I had to choose again. I think they have the exact same level of daily drivability, but the M2C is more fun on the daily drive.

Also did the brace retrofit much more compliant the front shocks you can feel actually start to work. Have put PS4S all corners now and ride is plush. Gave my mate a lift other day and he said how smooth it was.

If you can't tolerate as a DD you are a bit of a pussy tbh or have multiple vertebral fractures.

M2 ride is plush...

Now that's just funny.

Pussy

Maybe some of you need to go back to the real world, drive cars of commoners, normal cars. The M2 has an excellent ride.

Jesus if it's that 'hard' for you don't get into one.

You are funny.

It is also funny that most of the world disagrees with you. I mean so many reviews talk about how plush the ride is....

"It may not be a great car on crummy roads, but it is a great BMW"
"They're not wrong. Even the M2's champions had a hard time ignoring its jarring ride, and the proliferation of squeaks and rattles suggest that maybe the M2 rides too stiffly even for itself."

"One thing I’m glad about is the retuned suspension. At times the regular M2 seemed overwhelmed by rough, uneven roads, but the Competition’s setup is better-equipped to handle those sorts of situations. It’s not perfect, of course—this isn’t 7-Series levels of ride quality—but it’s a step in the right direction."

Admittedly we went over some rough road today and got jostled around. Wouldn't say it's painful or anything, just some good motion in the ocean

I don't own either but have cross shopped both models recently. I've driven 2x 2017 M2's, a regular M4 with average options and an M4 comp fully loaded, there was about a $10k difference between the two M4's. If I went the M4 route, I would definitely go comp, aside from the differences on paper it felt "tighter". I'm a tall/big guy and have a very hard time finding performance oriented cars that I'm comfortable in, the M2 is acceptable but the M4 is comfortable. I would describe the M2 as a performance coupe and the M4 as a sporty GT, but neither are a true sports car they still feel like a 2 door compact sedan.

I've mostly owned higher HP, luxury GT's and want to go the complete opposite route this time so the M4 is no longer a consideration. It's more comfortable than the M2 but marginally. I don't get all the negative feedback about M2's having a harsh ride unless you compare it to a Lexus LS, I've test driven 10+ different performance cars in the same price segment and would say the M2 is on the more comfortable end of the spectrum but ymmv

I think the road surface is the real key here. The 2016-2018 M2s are missing some "compliance" if you will. It is not just the ride per say, but how it deals with the road surface - even my good friend 3t3p points out about the rough road driving experience.

And.. I'm in the Chicago area where our roads are a touch worse (ha, that's actually kind of funny) then the NorCal area (I grew up in Walnut Creek FWIW). I suspect the M2 would be just fine out there based on how I remember the roads.
