Exactly! So true...

I for one appreciate that BMW is still making cars like this....
For realz, they had me at twin-turbo 6 with a manual..

Beside blowing a 150k on a Porsche or Aston Martin, which other auto manufacture has such a viable option. #GoodTimes

Dedicated track menu options in iDrive that include things like oil pressure, boost pressure, brake temps, built in lap timer, telemetry readings, being able to temporarily disable TPMS to run at lower pressures, and whatever else cars like McLarens and Corvettes and Porsche GT3 have that help drivers monitor track performance.

Not ever gonna be in any OEM car or have much purpose in a M car, but rolling launch control would be sick to have too.

Removable harness bar with seats that accept a harness.

Ability to select a shorter steering ratio for the track

Brake cooling ducts

In order for me to seriously want it... hm

1. Rear seat delete, possibly with rear cage.
2. 6 point harnesses available as an option with rear cage.
3. Stiffer mounts and bushings.
4. Weight loss(individual options), eg manual seats, no iDrive, etc.
5. Wider carbon revolution wheels, or quality forged at least. maybe 275 square or 265/295 to differentiate from M2C more.
6. Individual Colors being available.
7. Not sure if this will be there, but the 2020 GT350R is throwing in a quicker steering rack, and the E46 M3 CSL had a quicker steering rack. that would be cool to see.
8. M4 GTS style euro recaros, or a similar bucket seat. Hoping G87 M2C gets this as an option.

I'll edit this as I think of more, but the car was definitely the letdown to me, as a modded M2C owner. To someone who doesn't own a M2 or owns a stock model, it is great though.

Those changes would add maybe 50 lbs to a 3600 lb car.

This is not a Lotus. It's not even a Cayman. Let's not pretend that a 3600 lb car is some kind of hardcore thing to begin with.

If you want a track weapon, I think you are actually starting from the wrong car. You're asking for a CSL. That's fine, but it won't be competitive on this chassis. The M4 GTS already basically set the bar for what is capable on the F8x platform.

Fair, I get what you mean. My lotus is worlds apart from my M2C. But there is definitely weight to be lost, as proven in the race car variants of the M2. So I think luxury features should be individual options. I do like the idea of water injection like the GTS though.

Also frankly, I find the F87 Comp a better chassis than the F82 Comp especially at GTS power levels(my personal car), especially after driving both back to back at the M performance school in SC on their track. The M2C definitely more tail happy, but also has more feel stock, and break-away feels more progressive. The M4C feels more planted but more snappy, and very stiff, not as loose and playful. They are very distinct chassis, that is for sure. I think an M2 CSL would have something to offer to the enthusiast market.

I drive M4 and M2 back to back. For the same power and tire on proper race track, M2 actually has more traction (more planted) than M4, especially on turn exit. High speed grip is identical.

Interesting. At the MPS, both were on continentals, and M2C was running OEM tire width, so it makes sense it felt less grippy since M4C runs wider tire widths. However, M4 felt more snappy. Would you agree with this?

Yes. M4 is more balanced on brake, less understeer. It's confidence inspiring, also more eager to go fast.

M4 is a more serious track tool if you ever call any BMW a track tool.

Less weight and more torque especially at lower rpm. Car has met my expectations based on rumors from this past February regarding the power bump to 444 horsepower and carbon fiber.

My expectations have been in check. If I had a bigger budget I would probably look at a 992 911 Carrera S which would be a 100 percent new experience from my M2 Competition. Not interested in a Cayman GT4 since I need an automatic transmission.

The color palette offered is a yawn-fest, the wheel widths could've comfortably been increased 0.5", and more front camber. Regardless, I bet the car is a massively impressive drive.

I would also recommend a titanium exhaust, but S55.

1) San Marino blue instead of smurf blue, a matte grey
2) A proper wing
3) Rear seats delete, More sparse interior
4) Carbon Fiber seats

I realize all these might show up in the CSL so that makes the CS not that special.

Happy about

1) Power bump (that's means can put the same map on the M2C)
2) Not that special so no worries about missing out (except the CF center tunnel and the CF roof everything else you can put on the M2C from the aftermarket catalog)

If a M2 CSL were coming Artemis would have told us by now. So this is it.

I'd like to see a special decal, like M stripes woven into the CF.
Special color option ... or no color option and just something special.
Vented fenders.
Arm rest.
A wing or two ala 3.0 CSL, M3 LTW
Some sort of engine mod other than just removing the detune. CF intake ala M3 CSL.
More special exhaust, get rid of the tumor!

Don't think a CSL is coming. F87 M2 goes out of production in June 2021. 2021 will all be about the introductions of G Series M3 and M4.
