Sport Auto tested and it is barely faster than the new Z4 M40i, like 3 seconds or so.

You can watch the video, see it understeer suprisingly in a lot of corners, the gearbox has a mind of its own at times.

Either BMW M did this on purpose to hold it back from the M3/M4 or they messed up.
BMW M testdriver did it in 7:50 and official time for M4 was 7:52 by BMW. If this is BMW holding it back, can't wait to see them unleash the full potential of S55 in the M2.

With a simple CS tune and Cup2 tires, I bet M2C can achieve a similar or better result than the M3/M4 CS laptime around the ring despite the weight disadvantage.

Are we talking about a car from the factory or a tuned and modified version?

Adding slicks and a tune to any car will drastically change everything, might stick with stock for stock comparisons and the video from sport auto is up, find it silly that they reported 2 seconds faster. It does not really matter.

CS cars come with Cup 2 tires (except for NA) so it's not really apples to apples comparison when one is equipped with PSS and other one has Cup2s, hence my comment about throwing in Cup2s. BMW will do it anyway with the upcoming M2CS. Watch the ring laptime drop 10+ seconds.

Sticking with stock vs stock, what you are saying about BMW messing up still doesn't make sense as the car outperformed M4 by 2 seconds. I guess BMW didn't do a very good job holding it back.

Exactly.

And 7:52 by CG is just fine. See the car understeer. Yeay I do.
Oversteer is often MUCH nicer but for the Nordschleife and at very high speeds I have my doubts
So the chassis is very well engineered as you can see in that video. But It probably needs the M3/4 tyresize up front...
It's still a 1600kg car.

What did Alfa Romeo 4C do? 8:05
And F10 M5 Comp? 575BHP 7:54 as I recall.

Put on some other rubber or even better wider front tyres.

But hey folks, this is what it is 7:50/7:52 and a great fun car.

Cheers
Robin

Why don't you quote everything I said instead of just one part. I said that they are either holding back or that they messed up.

Secondly the standard M4 if I recall did 7:50 and not the CS, I do not see your perspective on insisting that the M2C "must" come with C2 tires, apples to apples as in compare a car from the factory with another from the factory, the moment you change anything it's no longer "from the factory" is it?

Have you even watched the video? Did you see how the transmission was shifting strangely? Ow just how much understeer it has? Instead of looking at just the lap times, maybe you should look at it as a package instead, you know the other things that matter in a car?

Go read my post again and tell me where I said M2C must come with Cup2 tires. My whole point was even in its stock from M2C can go head to head with M3/M4 CS around the ring when both are equipped with same tires (Cup2s or PSS doesn't matter). Btw, Sport Auto also ran the ring with M4 CS at 7:42 (source) and yes, the car had stickier Cup2s on it.

And I'll do the work for you and point you the sources for M4's 7:52 laptime :

"Equipped with DCT and ceramic brakes, the new BMW M4 lapped the famous Nurburgring in just 7:52 minutes, slightly behind the E46 M3 CSL (7:50) and the M3 GTS (7:48)."

I don't think you are reading any of my posts correctly, your really wasting my time making me go around in circles.

Anyways the M2C is no longer on my list, that is all I care about anyways.

7:50 for M2C by SportAuto.

11 sec quicker than the base M2 they ran a 8:01. Z4 M40i lap was 7:55.4.

Yes, so SportAuto matched their 7:52 done in the M4. 9 seconds quicker than the regular m2.

No question, sky's the limit now that the M2 has a S55. Much more tuner friendly package the M2comp is.

Hope the Alpine wins. Easily the coolest car on sale today—-WISH they sold it in the US.

Nurburgring lap times are a waste of time and tell me nothing about the way a car feels...

This type of reviewing cars on track drifting and burning tires is so pathetic and wrong. These guys pretend to know everything about sports cars but they miss the most important part of a car/driver being smooth on the track. Absolutely horrible.
At least original Top Gear cast was entertaining. This guy pretends to be serious and wrong at the same time.
