That confirms my suspicion. Ohh well, guess I'll be powder coating the wheels.

It gets stranger when you look at the wheel photos in the Pricing Information at the UK BMW site (https://www.bmw.co.uk/pdfs/price-lis...t_july2018.pdf)...

BMW are prolific at misprints and errors, so I wouldn't go off that. Even their product info from different regions vary, that should tell you something. Trust in the VIN's of real life cars with "black" wheels. I'm 99% certain the face of the wheels are not black.

Somehow I can't believe that every car, and every image thus far has been the black alloys!

I'm hoping the above PDF is accurate... would be a pretty idiotic mistake for BMW to get it that wrong... but, its BMW, you never know

Just ordered black wheels with HS. Guess it'll be a surprise what color the wheels actually are when the car comes

We are also putting faith in 3rd party VIN decoders. They may have it wrong also.

I originally ordered the black but changed them to the nice ones. I even sent an email to the sales guy and said I want the wheels in these pics.

He said ok. These are the standard ones.

No doubt those are the standard wheels. My question is: are the black wheels all black or gunmetal faced. I prefer all black, but either will work.

Aren't the 788s similar to the approach taken with the blackk 666Ms? I thought I remember seeing something to that effect - aka, not completely black. More like black accents....but I may be wrong.

My thinking as well. I recall the black 666M wheels have black barrels, but the machined face was also lightly tinted black.

When you look up vin numbers...I find it strange BMW refers to the black 666M(2CQ) wheels finish as shadow, while the black 788M(29U) is referred to as black.

They also referred to the 788M wheels as "jet black" as well. I'm still going by what the VIN's and pics of the real life cars show until I see otherwise.

Yup, I believe what have seen all along are the black 788M. I looked up a lot of the later vins on this page, got tired after a while. They all have 29U black 788M.

My take is that the black wheels are actually going to have a black face and not a gunmetal finish. It just does not seem to make sense that they would offer a bi-color wheel with silver face and a "black" wheel with a slightly darker face that looks almost identical.

I also noticed in the current issue of Roundel that they mention that the black wheel option has a black face. No idea how accurate Roundel has been in the past though...

Thanks for this! Any chance you could photoshop the M2C with 788Ms in this bronze color? Would be interested to see how it would look on LBB.
