I don't get the pricing model on their page. Painted caps cost 255GBP and the whole unit costs 250GBP..

Now, It's not my area of expertise in any way but I would have guessed that the caps only would have been cheaper than the whole unit...

I don't see the painted caps for 255GBP you're referring to. If you're talking about this for 240GBP or this for 260GBP, they're the carbon fiber variants for the OEM mirrors.

They are the ones called "AUTOID Painted Performance Wing Mirror Covers for BMW (Various Models)

If you click on them to see the product specific page it says they cost "254.95" something. I rounded it to 255..

Those are not the same mirror caps as the ones offered in the bundle with the housing. They are the mirror caps for OEM mirrors but altered to have the M look.

Yeah, I actually think we're on the same page about the differences between the two products.. One would think that the product that contains more hardware would be more expensive than "just" the caps which are just painted plastic...

Anyway, the reason I thought about this was that would be satisfied with just the caps which is an easier installation but if they are more expensive than the newer, more m like product then I'd might as well buy that.

Recently got my replacement caps in the mail after breaking the bottom tabs on the first set. Only time and money, lol What can you do?

Anyways I reinstalled everything today and fitment is 99% and I'm happy with how they came out. They aren't perfect but they're very close to it and for the price and design I think it's a fantastic alternative to spending $2000 on M2C mirrors.

I haven't test driven the car yet to see if they whistle but I will do that tmrw assuming the weather is decent.

This was the reinstallation order of everything that worked best for me:

Bottom piece

Clear indicator

Front screw

The large mirror housing piece

Middle bottom black screw

Outer bottom black screw

The other 3 silver screws in any order

Caps

Mirror Motor

Glass

CF version are currently 10-14 days delayed because of clips/tabs supplies - should be getting mine soon, maybe in about a week or two

Where do you think the retailer gets these from..

They just do minor "quality" inspections, slap their name on it and resell them at a higher price..
