Just came back from the dealer (Belgium) where I ordered my car.

No new colors, interior/exterior as on the press photos, same engine, iDrive with touchscreen, led instead of Xeon, minor interior changes (black panel tacho, ...)

The price went up with a bit more than 1000 euro's but I retained my discount of around 5000 euro incl taxes.

Delivery is for august 1st.

The wait is almost over.

Hmm, I wonder if the front turn signal is also LED. It doesn't look like it from the pics.

it is already known the adaptive led-headlights are standard in the m2 lci
I guess it depends on when you get your allocation and production date. I debated about waiting but was first on the list when I ordered last October. Car went into production a few weeks later and I took delivery at the end of March so a total of 5 months from allocation to delivery (spent time at the port getting Performace package installed) so if it's a 8 month wait I would assume you won't get an allocation until after July when the 2018 model goes into production.

Regardless of what you get it will be a fantastic car. It's basically the same car with cosmetic changes and the biggest advantage for the 2018 model would be the backlit gauge cluster which imo would fix the only major gripe I have with my car.

I am considering seeing what happens with CS edition, possible competition package etc and ordering a new m2 in the last year of production and keeping it forever.

The car is great. You will love which ever version you get but I do admit the gauge cluster looks great on the LCI. Waiting for the first retrofit!!!

Is the cluster back-lit during the daytime? Just being black doesn't help in overcast conditions.

I agree 100% I'm just tired of everyone saying how they want the more luxurious interior, m mirrors, adaptive suspension, etc etc. All the things that are in the M3/M4. The M2 is meant to be a throw back to the e30 or e36, a drivers car. If you want all the goodies get an M3/4, if you want a driver oriented car which is a blast to drive get the m2 ....

I've just been chatting to BMW Genius and they said it is available in new colours. Conversation below.

Hi Daniel
Hi Nicholas Lowman, my name is Danial. Thanks for your query.
Can you please tell me the colour which will be available for the M2 LCI
In regards to your question the M2 LCI will be available in Sunset Orange
Thank you so much.
[He tried to send me a link]
Unfortunetly the link is currently down. But if you search BMW Individual Visualiser on google at some point in the future you will be able to see the different colours we have.
Thanks so much Danial
New Colours available on the M2
- Sunset Orange (£550)
- Seaside Blue (£550) – not available on M Sport or M240i

Thanks
Cheers
Alex.

The dealer is telling you there is a delay because of the waiting list. I don't think there is any real delay. If anything it's just the break before they release the LCI which would not take too long. Any M2s produced past summer time should be the LCI.

Ok keep me updated if you have further information.
Unless you have a production number, you'll get the LCI model.

I think I've got one of the last pre-LCI models, rolling off at the end of June, and gauge-cluster aside, I'm happy with that

I actually think the original version looks better.

The new headlights look sort of half-cocked if that makes sense. The LED strip moving towards the grill looks nice on the 3er and 4er, because the entire headlight assembly goes to the grill. This sort of looks like they ran out of room but didn't finish it anyway.

The original tails were much cooler IMO, from a shape perspective. The new ones are LED, I am sure, but the shape of the light looks more conservative than the original. Not really an upgrade to me...

What is the fixation w/LED lights? If done right they should look the same, i.e. evenly illuminated like the headlight halo. If done badly it will look like an Audi (just and example) with a bunch of little dots.

It certainly appears that he has the resources to remedy any M2 deficiencies that he may perceive and have a very unique M2 instead of complaining that BWM didn't do it for him.

Kind of like the "sow line" in the 1-Seres, but far less ugly.
Is that what it's called? The one thing that I could never get past on the 1 series.

It will only display what the manufacture programs into it. BMW could allow us to switch the "Efficiency" gauge to an oil gauge but they don't, at least in the US. probably related to an interpretation of some EPA compliance regulation.

if you're talking about performance then I can say RS3 is in the realms.

I had coral red interior E92 coupe. also sat in F32 with red interior and a m235i. simply BMW interior feels lacking and outdated.

the 1 & 2 series are probably the most ugliest cars BMW has ever made.
The current Audi dashes light up like a Christmas tree. Sounds like you bought the right car for yourself now you only need to find the right forums.

Reading the two genius conversations posted, I'm pretty sure the 'Genius' is talking about the regular 2 series.

Hell, in the above they even mention the m240i...

Is that 100%? If sunset orange is true then I might not be so sad. I do not get why they swapped the gague cluster, it should be grey! Selling my m3e46 for this M2 and I will miss that dial

If I get LCI we should swap the cluster

Shouldn't an M car have grey dials though?
The function of instruments is to give you information at a glance. White on black is the most visible. The previous ones where small low contrast and too busy with lights and do dads. These look purposeful now. Big, clear and focused except for no temp gauge. Shouldn't an M car have a temp gauge?
