You have the option to go back to older ecu or flash yours to cs/gts

In fact I only want the cs tune upgrade, not anything more aggressive.
So, do you imply that this can be actually done with the newest ECUs without replacement?

Hey guys, is there any update on what is the real cut-off date for the locked ECUs? I know we've been talking about late June 2020, but I just heard from a tuner in Germany that he had an April 2020 built car with the locked ECU! Mine is mid-May 2020... I thought I was in the clear, and now I'm losing hope again. I am meeting him on Monday to check everything.

Hi and wilkommen

If you have the MHD app you can see if yours can be unlocked or not in an instant.

Edit: You also need the MHD thingies found here, sorry to bother you...

Not true. The MHD app only tells you if your DME is locked or not. I.e. do you need a bench unlock. It cannot identify the newer bootloader to tell you if you need more than a bench unlock (06/2020+ DMEs).

That isn't true… if you have a locked bootloader (06/2020), it isn't possible to flash tune the DME… at all. It's not 'tune dependant'. As posted before, your only option for these DMEs is:

1. Piggyback.
2. Cloned DME.

The problem with 06/2020+ DMEs is Bosch changed the bootloader encryption. It's now completely locked. No one has found a way to crack it, including Femtoevo (only on B58/S58). That means it's currently impossible to read the DME, let alone flash new software to it. That means, regardless of the tune (CS, GTS, Stage 1 etc.) it's impossible to tune. The only options are a piggyback tune (JB4, for example) or use an older, unlocked DME (cloning necessary info of current car via FEM module).

To convert an m2c into cs or gts it is not necessary to read the ecu, nor is it converted with a tool like autotuner/flex/cmd etc...

i agree with you, MHD tells every DME that it requires a bench unlock after the 06/2020 cutoff even though it cannot be cracked. My DME was built 01/2021 and it even tells me it needs a bench unlock. Unfortunately it isn't accurate, a bench on my car is impossible. The only good thing is that it can tell your DME date

I feel like we're on different pages . How do you mean? How would you increase the performance of an M2C to CS or GTS levels without reading/writing to the ECU?

But you can't use those tools to simply add power…? The power is ultimately regulated by parameters defined by the ECU?

are you saying buy a m2cs or gts ecu? you cant change those parameters without rewriting those parameters, those parameters are locked down.

The power of the m2 cs and m4 gts is greater than of the m2c, therefore the parameters of those cs/gts are different.

Ok man… I have no idea what you're talking about are you suggesting you could put an M2 CS or M4 GTS ECU into an M2C? If so, sure, but again, the M2CS has the same locked bootloader and cannot be reprogrammed to work with an M2C (they aren't plug and play). The M4 GTS could in theory be swapped after a re-programme using the info from an M2 FEM module.

If not, then I'm afraid you've lost me - the M2CS/M4 GTS are faster than the M2C primarily because their ECUs have different parameters defined from factory.

Yeah only way to get that power is to buy m2cs vehicle or m2cs ecu. but thats dumb, your better off buying an older ECU and placing it in and flashing it for e85, big turbos etc.
