My understanding is that the dealer only MUST do recall items at a service interval. In the USA, the software is NOT recalled - and therefore not required. In countries where the cars have OPF, the DME update is a recall item.

It's not a recall in the UK anyway.

A "recall" is when the manufacturer tells you in writing you must return your vehicle for work, ie. being "recalled". And that is usually only done for safety critical items.

Has anyone had a recall letter from BMW?? I've not had one in the UK.

There's at least 1 UK guy on here that has not had the update at run in service. So can't be a compulsory update item if the dealer can choose if they do it or not.

I just had my car in today for the 1,200 mi break-in service. The dealer did not update my software. I was in and out of there in under an hour. I guess it really depends on the dealer.

So, I flashed it to stage 1 93 octane yesterday...oh, baby! (I skipped CS+)

OMG this thing is so fast!!! It's so much fun!!!

I think I'm going to need new wider tires soon. Haha

BTW, my horsepower display thing said that I got up to roughly 540! Yowzers! (Again, I know that it's not accurate or anything, but it's still fun to see)

Oh, I should've added that the stage 1 flash also made the exhaust sound better too. I'm extremely happy with my car now! The only thing I would really get is wider tires...when these wear away.

Made the exhaust sound better? how so? I only ask because I'm on the CS+ map and happy but if there's a good reason (besides power) to change to stage 1 then I'm interested!

It just sounds louder overall and the crackle/pops too (in sport+ mode). I was at a cars n coffee meet yesterday and others felt the same way.

(I skipped over CS+ so IDK the how drastic it will sound as compared ti that)

Did anyone also flash the GTS transmission software for their DCT? How is it?

Trying to decide between BPM (local) and BM3.

GTS DCT software is broken.

Flashed it, it broke after 5 mins driving (stuck in auto mode, unable to shift manually) I emailed PTF and they told me to reflash to stock and await a fix.

Yep, thanks! I had seen that thread and it has great info from Dyno numbers, but I'm hoping to just get a list of the actual crank "advertised" numbers, what are all the different tunes available

Seems silly that even in the bootmod3.com site there isn't a chart or listing of all the tunes, and what each one is in terms of HP.

For example, what's the difference between CS and CS+? What's the advertised HP for Stage 1? etc

So it begins, installed the CS yesterday and took her out for a long run, about 60 miles highway and traffic mixed. All I can say is wow, car feels more alive and unrestricted (maybe it's in my head lol), shifts better (6 speed car) and sounds better as well. Power wise I didn't feel much of difference in Street drive than stock however on highway pull past 4K it feels strong and loud. Also not sure if it's just me from the inside car felt quite like ASD was turned off or something. So I am not sure if this is feature of CS?

I will test out each map from CS to stage one, and will spend week in each of the map and decide which one more suitable for me. Most likely it will be stage one.

nice!

could you do me a favor, and make some extra detailed notes and comments between these tunes, as you work your way up to stage one?
- CS+
- GTS
and how they feel compared to CS and to stage 1 once you get to it?

I don't think I'll be going to stage 1, but seems that CS is a good base tune but somewhat anemic overall, so I may end up either with CS+ or GTS, and would love to get your thoughts on these two, compared to your experience in CS (as well as how "less" powerful they feel compared to stage 1)

Agree with findings about CS map; you really notice how slow it makes the stock car feel above 4k. Don’t have a desire for any faster speeds as of yet, however would love to read people’s findings of the different maps.
