My local dealer has three M2Cs in stock. Not a rare car at all right now.

It appears from these boards, that it is rare in some areas. Where I live, it hasn't been rare in 2 years. Dealers always have 3-4 each.

Unlike the original M2, which when it was now release, was incredibly difficult to locate and didn't spend much time lounging on the showroom floors, before it was snatched up, the M2C are pretty common and are readily available for purchase here in the metro NY/NJ dealerships.

Not saying one is more desirable than the other but I believe the initial hype for this model has now stabilize, making the M2C allocations as typically vacant as any other BMW model.

Maybe because you live somewhere with cold $&/: weather they aren’t selling right now. Here in SoCal they are pretty hard to find.

BMW San Diego has none at all.

I'm in NJ, the cars are available, but in my case, none of the dealers have the colors I'd prefer. They basically all only buy HS, AW, and BSM. On top of that, they don't deal. I get it, they want to stock the most popular colors. But then when it comes to an allocation, it's msrp or worse. No thanks, I'll buy from out of state and transport so I can get what I want and get some discount on top and not have to fight tooth and nail each step of the way.

I checked on Car Gurus and found only 27 within 200 miles of me in NY of which 16 were CS's. And of the 11 M2C's, only 2 were MSRP 60-61 (basically color, manual, and exec). So even in NY/NJ, doesn't seem like a big selection.

I should note there are ALOT of BMW dealerships within 200 miles. So most dealerships have 0.

So what you're saying M2C is a difficult car to obtain?

I sincerely doubt that's the case..

Forget what you see from some search engine, the M2C is not a 330i or X3, it's a very niche model, they don't move like your typical BMW model, so there is no reason for them to keep an abundance of them on hand, they are made-to-order.

You walk into any dealership and ask for a M2C, they have allocations available for you and discounts to be have. If not, they'll trade one from a neighboring dealership. It's not a car where a potential buyer has to sort over.

If anyone says otherwise, they are mistaken. That was my point.

Perhaps you can order but you said "readily available" which most people would take as on dealer lots or in transit. Agree that an M2/M5, etc or pretty much any BMW are available to order.

Yep, that's actually quite a few. No one stocks these like 3, 5 and X series cars. Demand is not that high, no matter how enthusiastic this board is.

There are very few 6 spd M2C's on the ground right now for sale anywhere in the US.

I'm talking about 12 at dealerships and 3 at Port of destination.

Not CS's.

1-HI
3-WA
1-OR
1-CO
1-WI
1-IL
1-KY
1-GA
1-VA
1-NJ

There are 3 more in transit to the states right now.

6 more thru Production.

Also added 9 demos:

2-WA
5-CA
1-MN
1-RI

Thats it gang...

My dealership gets maybe 2 M2C in a year. They are sold as soon as they hit the showroom. They get 3 times that in M8’s and they sit for months. Funny enough, they have the same 2 M440i’s for over 3 months now with no interest.

I very much think it's regional. The ones on the lot here are still asking for an ADM. Few months back I saw one of the dealerships in OC was asking for 5k over MSRP which wasn't reflected on their website.

There is a SO at Sewell BMW in Grapevine TX(Dallas area) at the moment. Has nice amount of carbon bits and is a stunner. Don't recall specific tranny etc. I'm sure it's on their website if interested.

I always appreciate your feedback because its always objective - regardless of what you currently own and you don't get caught up in internet fantasy world, for a lack of better adjective.

Respect for keeping it real

Call BMW San Diego and tell them that story. Tell them to order you a Black one. Report back. When he says we have no allocation tell him there’s a black one in Mt View dealership ask him to get it. When he tells you they said no it’s not up for trade, tell them they are mistaken.

If that's truly the case, which I doubt, then try another dealership like 5 miles over - it's CA not Afghanistan.. 🤷

Whatever, you win; a mass-produced, cookie-cutter M2C is as rare as a 5-leaf Clover.

MT View's car is a dealer demo and its a 2020 not a 2021. But it is a stick :-)

Hmm. You said 3 M2Cs in Washington. Seattle BMW has 2, Bellevue BMW has one, Spokane BMW has one. So four so far with several dealers left to check.

I added 9 more DEMO's to my original post.

Dealers also sometimes "hide" cars they don't want calls on for swaps

Demos in most states are still considered "new vehicles" with less than certain amount of miles. Here in NH its less than 5K.

If the demos in WA are New then I found 5 total new/demos there...
