Question about M2C suspension

Hi guys. I just picked up a new M2C. There was some minor damage to the blue cover on the rear suspension (see picture). The dealer claimed this was purely cosmetic. Would appreciate if someone could please confirm if this is something that I should have addressed. Thanks in advance.

Those blue covers aren't supposed to be there. They should've been removed when you got the vehicle. You should see a bumpstop (yellow) and dust boot (black plastic) there.

Thank you very much. Would the covers not being removed cause any damage with driving ~200 miles? Will have the dealer address, but just wondering if anything else that I should have checked or fixed. Thank you again.

Your dealer left the shipping blocks in the suspension...they were supposed to remove those during the PDI. The same thing happened to me earlier this week when I took delivery of my M2 CS. I knew something wasn't right as the car was sitting too high, and the ride quality was terrible.

Since they didn't remove the rears, your front ones are still in there too. You have to lift up the rubber accordian boot to see them. Jack up the side of the car, and you can reach in there, unclip the blocks and pull them out. Took me 10 minutes to do all four corners. Then be amazed at how much better the car rides, and how much lower it sits.

Those are shipping blocks. Simple to remove - should have been removed by dealer before delivery.

The fact that the dealer didnt know what these were after you showed them, is even more concerning...

They seriously didn't know what those were?
As the other guy said, that's concerning...
I remember gassing up a sold M2 and the tech forgot to remove them, I could tell by the 1st bump something was way off. Luckily from the VW world where legit hundreds of techs were not removing them across the US in the golfs I knew what it was.

Well at least when they get removed, your car will feel like you are driving on a cloud now lol.

Dealerships are notorious for being dismissive of all kinds of things so it doesn't surprise me they gave you a line straight out of their anoose and sent you on your way. Remember who you spoke to that told you it's "cosmetic". Don't ever deal with them again.

It's one thing for a dealer to forget to remove the shipping blocks during a PDI. It's another thing entirely for a dealer to be presented with a photo of the shipping blocks and claim they are part of the car and supposed to be there...

Are you down in the city, or someplace upstate? Curious who is making such a gaff. And must confess I just went out to check mine to be sure (only 120 miles on it, just the trip home).

Anybody know if these come on all BMWs, like...and X5M? Getting one delivered at the end of this month at a Texas dealer then shipped to Vegas.

Thanks.

As far as I know these are only needed on cars with low clearance for shipping

I've always assumed they're in-place to stabilize the car during over-ocean transport. They may not be needing during X models shipped within the states. But that is a good question!
