Thank you! That was a lot of work to execute and I had to do the doors back all bulk and hand cut. I wanted to do something with PPF that had never been done and that would require a lot of skill. Definitely leaned on my 13 years of experience to pull it off.

It's gloss PPF where the car is gloss and stealth PPF where the paint looks satin. I wanted to use both films.

Thank you though!! Glad y'all dig it

Will shoot you a PM! Totally familiar with all the tracks in socal, I used to frequent SOW, WSIR, Buttonwillow, Chuckwalla and ACS.. too bad ACS roval is closing next year

Yup, the guys at frankenturbo too are working on something nice for the N55.. but in all honesty, why not look at speedtech and go with an EFR setup? Proven turbo, great manifold, and honestly the kit looks like factory.

We are working with another enthusiast with the EFR7670 kit.

Crazy question... do you have an estimated time frame of these new n55 pure turbos? After this winter, I'll be looking to add a turbo and wmi and I'm not sure if I should wait.

Alright guys! Here they are!! I can't wait to hear it at local events "what bmw did those come out of" lol.

It's actually quite sad because 90% of people will never understand the problem solving and stuff we had to work out to pull these covers off.

Shane has done huge reupholstery projects on multi million dollar yachts but he said this one was really tricky. The other crazy thing is that each seat is different. So sparcos mold is either inconsistent or something is. From the start I was extremely displeased with the quality or lack there of in the sparco seat. I really had wanted recaros but these fit me the best. 6'4" 215lbs wide shoulders. Lean muscular Frame.

I really hope you guys dig them, I sure do! Shane worked his ass off and crushed this project!

Thanks shane!

Enjoy

Those seats look great!

If you don't mind me asking, what was the cost to have them covered?

Fantastic. The hard work and dedication doesn't go unnoticed here on the forums.
Keep up the solid work. This is easily my favorite track build to follow!

Thanks guys! I appreciate it a lot! It's a labor of love lol. I have countless hours and long nights into building the car and doing 90% of the work myself. If anyone ever has questions I'm here to help!

Said and done the complete remake of the seats and as $1500 for materials and labor. May seem like a lot but it's 100% worth it. We did custom Lombard foam supports, remade the center and lower inserts in new foam and obviously the countless hours that shane logged getting the pattern as close as he could to best fit a very imperfect seat. Like I've said these sparco seats are so far from perfect to start that it made patterning very difficult. The sparcos also have really crappy foam to start with. They're very lucky the seats fit my body the best. Other wise I'd never recommend them.

I'd be very curious to dissect a recaro or OMP and see how they're made.

It's very worth it! If your mechanical you can do the install yourself. It's not hard. And with the m2 kit there's no drilling or anything. Bolts right up. I had to adjust the set screws a little and now it just clicks into gear. On track it was a joy to have on track. Night and day difference

Track update! Yesterday I ran the car on willow springs international raceway. "Big willow". I didn't get pics or video on track and I kept forgetting to turn on my track addict lap timer.

The car ran amazing! Temps outside were in the 40-50 range. No wind and clear skies. It was a picture perfect day for the high desert lol.

If you know willow then you know it's one of the fastest tracks in the US! I am lucky enough to have connections with Billy Johnson and paid him for some in car coaching. Billy drove the Ford GT that got 4th at Le Mans the year recently that Ford won. He is a true professional driver. With his coaching in two laps I had my line down around the track better than ever! I was taking turn 2 at 90-100 and 8/9 at 120+. It's really amazing how much grip the car has! The RE71RS HOOK! They performed very well!

The seats were amazing and the schroth harness to the cage had me locked in!!

Also gotta give a huge shout out to hawk Performance! Their brake pads had us stopping on a dime! Billy was even impressed by how hard the car could brake!

My next goal to get better at journaling data to help improve speed on tracks. Also to find the weak points of the car to make it faster!

Engine and oil temps were no problem and never got over 220 on my arwon gauge, probably because it was a cool day out. I really don't have plans to track hard in summers. It's too hard on my body.

All in all great day! Super pleased with the car!

On tonight's episode of making the ultimate n55 m2 weapon...I'm making a custom arm rest. Thanks to the help of ebisu8 I ordered a cheap f22 armrest on eBay. For those that don't know like me. There are clips that you can probably release with a screw driver to cleanly separate the top half from the bottom. I didn't realize this and yanked the halves apart. I'm really glad I ordered this piece and destroyed it rather than my factory nice leather stitched arm rest. The bottom half that I needed is totally fine and didn't crack.

I then used a 4" flapper wheel and ground the bottom half flat-ish. As flat as I needed it. Then I cut some left over carbon to act as the base for the new rest. I'm gluing 1/4" foam on the carbon. Then the same anthercite alcantara that's on my new seat covers will be glued to that and I'll wrap and glue it to the under side of the carbon. Then epoxy that to the bottom half of the new console lid.

I thought about getting nifty with some bolts. But honestly I don't think this will wear out or ever need replacement.

I'm really stoked to be making this happen cause I loathe the height out the arm rest. I had priced out a full m2cs carbon tunnel and all the parts needed to convert but it was 5k and I just don't see the value in that knowing one day I'll completely gut the car and shave every ounce of weight i can. I'll have it done one night next week and I'll post more pics and a comparison of my arm rest versus the stock m2 armrest!

Drove the car on a 4 hour round trip this weekend and must say that the seats are plenty comfortable on long drives. I also don't mind the harnesses either. When I'm just cruising I set them a little looser. The reworks to the seats and foam work that we did made a world of difference.
Even my GF said the seats were more comfy than she'd expect. So that says a lot lol.

Another upgrade coming guys! Today I ordered SPL parts front tension/ thrust arms, rear upper arms and rear toe arms with eccentric lock outs.

I called spl to check inventory and come to find out they had some "blemish" parts instock. Basically on a part no one will ever see the logos are going to be a little bit off place or mix matched. I saved 20% off the order! Freaking SCORE!!

I'm super slammed at work and don't have time to do the install myself. My buddy owes me a favor at his bmw work shop. So Monday the car will go into him for the install and a fresh alignment. I'm going super aggressive on the camber because I WORKED my re71rs HARD on my last track day. I'm going to ask his opinion but I plan on going at least -3 front and more aggressive in the rear from our current set up. He'll need to reference my file.

I'm hoping with the spl arms that it will help cure the wagging I was feeling under threshold braking.

These will be the first parts installed on the car not by me! Feels very weird! I like to do my own wrenching.

The armrest is all done and I'll probably install it Thursday night. It came out sweet but I used quite a bit of caulking to secure the carbon wrapped in alcantara to the f22 plastic lid. The caulk added quite a bit of weight lol. At least it's rock solid and won't vibrate haha

Stay tuned for pics!!

Another small update guys!

Got the center arm rest mod done! I can't wait to drive with it this weekend. It's low but not too low! I really like the height of it. For a mod that cost me 80 bux and some left over foam and material from the seats it's super worth while IMO. Much better money spent for now than 5k to convert to the CS center console. That can go towards the turbski!

I also have been in search for a worth while phone holder. Because I have the arwon gauge display the upper center clamp phone mount for the hazard button was out of the question. So I ordered the jb4 mount. No issues with the sticky tape. Although I'm not keen to sticky taping inside the car on gloss trim I liked it. Holds my iPhone pro max no problem.

While ordering from burger I grabbed a clutch stop and threw it in. I'm running all the discs. I want a short stop. No need for a mile long pedal. The prongs were very tight like others complained about. I used channel locks and just squished them down a bit. Super easy mod. Took 5 minutes!

Here's some pics!

Professional photos coming soon! And I have like 10 vlog videos to edit. Just been really busy at work!

Lastly. The spring for the original console was being a pain to get back in so I just left it out. Made the reinstall way easier. And honestly I never use the console any way. I hate crap vibrating around in the car. Well call it weight reduction haha
